USA swimmer from age 7-18 and got burnt out towards the end, wanted a real college experience! I’m 21 now and I️ haven’t swam in about 2 years and I️ miss it like CRAZY!! Looking forward to feeling that passion again!!
Can relate! Just started to get back into swimming after a 2.5 year break from comp swimming since I was 8 years old (now 20). I knew I missed the sport but never realized how much until I went to my first meet back and I suck compared to my old times to say the least.
One thing I would do first day back is to choose ur favorite event and time urself. It’s very unlikely you’ll go a best time but after 3-4 weeks of training, time urself again and that time will definitely be a lot faster and it’ll feel very satisfying that ur hard work is paying off.
I was a competitive swimmer for 15 years, I had the fastest back stroke on my team and qualified for state but unfortunately I tore my Achilles’ tendon playing flag football and could not go to my meet. I haven’t Swam in probably 6 years at this point. I remember I just couldn’t mentally handle waking up at 4:30 in the morning to jump into a cold pool 5 days a week. Lately I’ve been feeling called to get back into the pool again. I don’t really know what I’m doing and deffinatly would have to brush up on my skills. This is awesome thanks for the video.
I remember being SO GOOD at swimming, but having absolutely no passion for it and only doing it because it made my parents happy, but looking back the workout was so rewarding afterwards and I felt mentally strong and was defiantly in the best shape of my life.
I was training for a pool test for two months over the winter. The day I landed back where the test was (in a pool) it was cancelled. 2 1/2 months later it was rescheduled for this past weekend. Without as much as warming up for the test I crushed it with over 2:30min to spare. (open ocean). Pretty lucky, but the training, muscle memory, and mindset made it possible.
i was a competitive swimmer for about 4 years in high school i loved it. so very much. 4 years ago it got taken away from me for a few wild reasons and i just didn’t have the strength to get up and go again. ive been talking about getting back to it constantly since then and it just seems so scary to start all over again. but i know i need to make that commitment to myself
After a five year hiatus, where I swam four days a week, as a slow/beginner masters swimmer I'm heading back to the pool tonight. No expectations for today, or even this week. I want to enjoy the sensation of the water and have fun. I'll work on a goals and developing a specific plan over the weekend. Giddy with excitement!
I swam competitively from age 8-13, I stopped because I was burnt out and let a back injury (you read that right) be my excuse to stop. Now I’m in my mid 20’s, fat, coaching a team. One of my 12 year old swimmers wanted me to try a pyramid she made up (absolutely brutal) and I WILL be able to complete it by the start of next swim season.
Thank you!! We’ll definitely download your app and get started!! My daughter is coming back from year off after two knee surgeries. She’s been on a USA competitive team at the gold level for years. Dr cleared her back to swim. Coach said only club swim available to her until she is faster in the water. Club swim is not available due to Covid. No other resources given. Extremely disappointing. Some team.
I used to swim competitively from age 9 to 18 so now at 25 I haven't trained in 7 years and am so desperate to get back to training like I have a meet every other Saturday
I am swimming with resistance bands due to the size of the pool. Hard to work on distances so can only go by time duration. Would love any tips or experiences people have with the bands. Great vids - 🙏
Hey same. But last week I got back in the pool after I found my swim equipment when clearing a wardrobe. I just loved it. I didn't want to get out of the water. I've been more or less every day since

I haven’t swam in 3-4 years and I really wanna get back into it but I’ve gained so much weight and I weigh 198 so I will 100% follow your program and I will work for it It’s gonna be tuff but I will try

I only get in water for kids birthdays, vacations. I was a competitive swimmer in high school, and a life guard. But now I'm 57, and looking into fitness swimming. I may want to be an instructor for adults or beginners, but not sure if I can get strong enough. * that 10 pound carry looks difficult. Thx so much
I'm doing Couch to 1k. My goal is to do the first three workouts on the first day back, and swim every day after that. I've been doing the MSP dryland training the entire lockdown, so I hope I can swim 900 yards day one. And I want to learn how to do the butterfly soon.
Getting back to swimming. Quarantine killed my progress. Previously just went to pool and swam, not much structure. I want to lose 20 pounds over 20 weeks (began 8/15/20) so by 12/31/20. I will swim 3x/week, following a Swimpro training plan to where I can swim 1500-2000 yds, 3x/week. I started the Beg. Wt. Loss plan, which should take 5.33 weeks. Will follow that with the Endurance plan, which takes me thru week 13.33. What should I choose next to complete the 20 weeks?
Awesome! Glad we can help you along your journey. You may enjoy the Enhance Speed plan after the endurance plan! myswimpro.com/blog/2017/10/22/8-week-swim-training-plan-to-enhance-speed/
Spent time watching whiteboards, and reviewing other plans. Revised plans to: Beginner Wt Loss, Get Fit, Kick Technique bootcamp, then Improve Endurance. A bit of regression with starting Get Fit, but that might help focus on techinique/power.
Hi I'm a pre elite swimmer. I just went back to swimming due to the pandemic or mco..... I started swimming slow and my arm feel numb or no strength to pull the water. By the way I'm 13.i never let that stop me. Is there anyway to swim faster???
Hi, my name is Alya and I am from India. It's been 4 years since I had an injury due to which I wasn't able to get back to swimming. I have depression and anxiety due to the same injury as well because I was slipping from what I was and it was hard to see myself becoming something I never imagined. I've enrolled myself in a community pool a week ago, but I still feel lost. I get scared and stop in middle of lap. I really feel lost.
I stopped swimming for more than 10 years when I was 17 and I am 30 now I am swimming coach all that time and I also swim from time to another but not for a championship but I am trying now to swim for it so just started this week
Had a 10 weeks off due to ab surgery with Diastasis recti repair. Doctor s advice was 8 weeks no exercise/swim then go slowly. Back in the pool last Friday and plan going today. How do i increase slowly pace and distance without overdoing abs. Only did 0.9 km day before yesterday. Today want to do 1.2km and go up of 0.2 km when i can till i reach 2 km every time. Want to go swimming on Sunday, Wednesdays, Thursday or Fridays. Also doing KungFu on Mondays and Tuesdays. Lost 120 pounds last year through swimming and gastric bypass operation. But now i feel/felt cold in the pool. How do you not feel cold for longer workouts ? My goal is to maintain my weight loss and improve time. Maybe will have a goal to pass my swimming lifeguard course (am a teacher, and having that i could take my classes swimmimg).
Hi Tana! Swimming is a great exercise for rehabilitation, keep it up! Make sure you get a good warmup in, either before you get in the water or at the very beginning of your workout, to get your heart rate up before you start. It's also a good idea to incorporate different sets in your workout rather than just straight swimming! You can try our plans at www.myswimpro.com/elite :)
I swam in high school and was on my path to state (was always one place below what I needed junior year) I quit senior year because I had to choose between swim and my job, and the college I went to didnt have a swim program so the job was more important. I'm 10 years out from that. Started this week and can't seem to go above 30 min-45 min where I swim between 600-800m per workout. I want to get my 50m free to :45 (currently at :55), and get up to 500 continuous swim. I would like to get to 1000m per workout eventually. I would also like to be able to do 100 fly like I used to, even if not in competition speed. I swam 25m fly yesterday even though I am always embarrassed by the chop I make.

I used to swim when I was younger but haven’t been able to for 6 years I went to my first practice yesterday lasted 30 minutes then threw up due to being too dizzy and exhausted.
Hi there! Make sure you take it day by day. Don't give up if it gets hard, but listen to your body as well! For more tips, check out our blog: myswimpro.com/blog/2018/09/21/how-to-make-a-swimming-comeback-in-5-steps/
I havent done swimming training in 6 years. I used to swim with a competitive team. I wasnt that good but i used to train. My times were 28sec for the 50m backstroke and i was always close to the minute for the 100m backstroke. I am 27 years old now. I am aiming to do this again, and actually swim even faster.
