Made my first tape measure yagi for 2m about a year ago. Works like a charm for the shack! Was able to hit a repeater about 55 miles away, although the Rx was iffy. Great job on the build, and hope you were able to hit the repeaters!
Ive been using a 4 element 70cm yagi tape measure and its getting into a winsystem repeater about 32-35 miles away. It works. Infact, i just checked the swr today and its 2:0 on 447.975 Next im looking at a 4 element cubical quad for 2 meters.
I followed the instructions; all pieces are cut correctly. My SWR is a 9:1 at 445 MHz and 1.5:1 at 915 MHz, I am not sure what I did wrong. also, what is your trick to get the solder to stick to the braided shielding of the coax cable, I cannot get a good solder joint. I used 3 13 directors instead of 4 if that makes a difference.
SWR is adjusted by moving the driven elements in or out, at the hairpin. Also, if you're putting the antenna in the attic, you really don't need the support pieces.
