Adorable. I love the details you give in the instructions. I've watched many videos on this type of skirt, but you give great details! Thank you. I will be trying this one.
Hey Sugarbees! At 07:09 the correct Measurement B length calculation should be : My Length = 39 - 11/2 = 14 inches (not 42.5). This means that my tier B length is 14in and 30in wide. Sorry for the confusion 🙊 Hit me up on insta if you have any questions (@shaniainside)
I just found an old bed sheet and that's exactly the style of skirt I wanted!!! I just hope it's beginner friendly bc I never sawed anything in my life lol I hope it will be wearable
Freaking awesome thank you so much, I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this and you’ve made it look so simple and easy. I fully believe I can do this now. Thank you !!!
I whole heartedly believe you can do it too 💕 if you have any questions along the way, DM me on instagram or shoot me an email fashionxshania@gmail.com
Will this still turn out right if I make the tiers long enough where there is only one seam connecting the sides? I want the seam to be in the back in order to have more continuity in my fabric’s design. This tutorial is so great! Thank you💕
Love love love watching your tutorials...You would be a Fan Favorite On Project Runway. Love your designs...Love your clear instructions ..Thank You ❤️
Hi Shania!, I wanted to see how u are doing. I love that twirled skirt it’s giving me princess vibes 🤩 I also love how you can turn it into a dress and skirt😍. Also out of a bedsheet🤩.Kinda like Cinderella references.I would wear the skirt with a white tee tied in a knot, low apricot heels, sunglasses,a matching purse with the shoes,A big satin baby pink bow in the back of my hair, and wear it in a willow area with a pond and bridge. Sending you love! 💖💖💖
Wow Akila! I love your styling idea, it sounds so cute and I don't think i wouldve ever thought of apricot heels; brilliant ✨ Receiving and sending you back love 💕💕💕
@@ShaniaShania yes dear❤️😊 and wearing that i think you would look so pretty😘 and i loved your skills btw I am an Indian girl 18 year old and I have learnt some tailoring stuff and stitched some pieces of clothes too🙌
I saw this on Pinterest but it was a dress, now I'm looking how to make the top and I can't find any videos that explains, if you see it can you make it? You explain so good 🙏 😘
Jesi Piuma hey Jesi! Oh wow I didn’t know there’s a dress and top for this skirt. Can you send me a pic please? (Instagram @shaniainside or email: fashionxshania@gmail.com)
Accidental pin line? You can usually use rubbing alcohol, honestly denatured is best, just make sure and put some absorbent paper towel or something underneath it and blot it on top and keep spraying with rubbing alcohol till the pen comes up. Even works with sharpie.
Lovely idea to use a beautiful print of a sheet . Why did you skimp on the fabric when you could have got a lot more gathers especially the yoke of the waist. You would have got a very even lovely flow of the fabric.
Nirupa Chadha hey Nirupa! Thaaank you! I love the print of the sheet too! 😍 I actually had previously cut the sheet to make something else and so I didn’t really have the full amount of the sheet to use in order to make the skirt fuller. I did, however, have enough fabric to make the skirt just a little longer, and that, I regret I not doing. 😩
I apologize in advance if this is a dopey question. I am a pretty new sew-er...sewist... so here's the question: (I read through the other questions and didn't see this there and I'm not recalling hearing it mentioned) - what about the grainline? Cuz again I don't see that mentioned. Aside from that, what a SUPER detailed explanation. I also plan to look at your other video where you do the torso block. Thank you!!!!!!!
Hey!! If you're working with a bedsheet the way that I did, the longer side (top to bottom of the sheet) of the bedsheet runs parallel to the grainline, and the shorter ends (left to right) run along the crossgrain. Let me know if this is the info you're looking for. 💕
hello! the tutorial is very good and clear, but i don’t really understand how the top is stretching if you just cut the A piece as waist and don’t make it gathered at the top. Also, would it be okey if i made the width of C, 40 and not 45(if i have the same measurements as u)
Been stuck on trying to make Tier B and C, and I'm so confused by the math hahah. I don't understand how 39-11/2 =42.5???? Is there another formula I can use or another way to do it? Thanks :)
you can try taking your tier A width and multiplying it by 4 for Tier B and then for Tier C multiply the tier A width by 6. Hope this helps, but if not, feel free to message me on instagram @shaniainside
This is my favourite of the self drafted patterns for a tiered skirt, because I can fit it to my individual waistline! I really don't like the loose ones, which have a waist with the same measurement as the hip! 🙄 Where is the video showing how to make the body block, so I know how to cut the waist to hip part of this skirt, please? TIA.
@@muse-o heyyy 👋🏾 yeah, I get what you mean about a loose waistline. The link to make the body block is in the description box of this video, it’s the “full torso block tutorial” link. Let me know if you have any trouble finding it. Happy Sewing 🪡 🥂
Sorry, i don't understand, the top part is you waist measurement ,is fit rite? The waist band even with elastic band, but is attach to the waist measurement rite? How it stretch????
thank you!!! I used a serger machine to serge the edges but at 07:46 I show regular sewing machine settings that you can use to get the serged effect without a serger machine. Hope this helps!
i have a question, how many yards do you think you used for this? i’m going to use this tutorial to make a skirt, it’s such a good video!! thank you so much!
Oh, thank you so much!! That’s perfect for the amount I have! Haha, I wasn’t expecting you to respond to this since it aas an older video, so I’m pleasantly surprised!! 😊❤️
at 06:41 your total measurement should be how long you want the whole skirt to be (from your waist band to where you want your skirt to end), and then you would follow the other steps in the tutorial based on that total measurement.
the # of yards will depend on the size skirt that you want to make. I was able to use basically all of the fabric from a fitted full size bedsheet. Hope this helps!
That’s a great question! I didn’t stretch the elastic because it’s exactly the same measurement of my waist. Also, since I’m Separately gathering the casing, there’s no need to stretch the elastic too. I would only stretch the elastic if I were using it to gather the waist band/casing. Let me know if you’re still confused, but I hope this helps!

@@ShaniaShania Really cuz i cudnt fig it out so I added the length of Tier A and B and then subtracted it from your full length which is (39) and got 15 instead of 14 😅... And did the same thing to mine which isnt sown yet... but ah can it still work that way? Thanks for the video n taking the time out to reply...
@@mmr9276 yeah, i think it can still work that way if i understand you correctly. Also, you should go by Your full length measurement and not mine because we might be different heights/sizes. Not to mention, in the end, I wish I made my skirt a little longer.
