If you’re trying to cut a bunch of shock cord, take a board half the width of the length you want your snood to be. Wrap the shock cord around it a bunch of times. Then heat a large putty knife with the torch and push down into the shock cord. It will cut it and seal both ends at the same time. A 5” board will make 10” pieces of shock cord
Chain works the best, I been crabbing most of my life, when i use to use a crab net and if your line was to tight you could always loosen your line a little as you start going down your line, anything solid will just sink in to the mad, you want your line to stay tight but able to loosen if needed,and I use 30 to35 lbs of chain on a 3000 ft line and what i have found out over the years use different types of line including lay line, i use a line called #7 lock tight, line last longer, been using the same lines for over 7 years on every day use during crabbing season and for snoozes i use the white and green , last longer then the white and black, its a better shock cord, no hog rings needed to fasten your snoozes to the line, just make a slip not and pull it through, i use a dipper and run my lines fast and hard 9 to 10 hours a day, everyday except Sunday, that's my day off
Thanks for the video! I love crabbing. Here in SC recreational crabbers can use 2 crab traps. We never see crabbers crabbing with a trotline here. Since I like making videos myself, my wife and I tried trot lining here. Before we could get from one end to the other the bait would be gone. LOL! We were using fish heads for bait when we tried it, I think we'll try chicken the next time.
