I will give you an advice.Wear safety gloves while working with hacksaw If you do not have safety gloves .keep the fingers away from hacksaw as it may injure you.

You got there in the end, but it is very untidy looking. You seem to have used more hot-glue than anything else. If you look for circuits for water level detector you will find one that you could build using a transistor and two resistors almost as cheaply. This would only need a pair of wires hooked over the side so would be much neater. But full marks for effort!
