break a spreading dogbane stem or leaf, you will see that the plant contains a bitter, sticky, milky white sap. The sap contains cardiac glycosides that are toxic to humans.
These old skills are important. My grandfather passed on how to understand dogs to me and I've always felt it was a useful skill. I don't understand how I know, I just know, instinctively what they mean thanks to him. He always said doing unto others as they did unto me, even animals, would reap a return and it has. He was never religious, but that stuck with him even through all the campaigns he fought. I miss him and his advice. Listen to your elders, kids. They mean a lot and you won't know how much until they're gone.
Man I used to geek out in that game for HOURS. It expanded my english vocabulary a lot, very useful now that i'm an english teacher in Argentina. Updates kinda ruined it for me but it's still a marvelous thing.
@@Mistwolfss well they teach us when we r kids no to burn pine in grills or household fires because it’s toxic so I’m no sure if someone could safely drink out of a pine needle bottle.
This might be the one bushcraft short I've ever seen that's actually useful... I'll have to give this a try at some point. I'm guessing that birch bark would work as well but you'd probably have to paint the whole outside to make it watertight since birch bark tends to have gaps and holes... interesting idea!! :)
I still remember, from Boy Scout camp, how to make a willow whistle when I was elementary school age. Now I teach kids how to make one when we go camping.
Mr. Nostrand taught me how to make a willow-bark bottle, and he always poured some beeswax inside and poured out the excess to keep the inside from molding. Nice double layer of sealing too, especially on bigger bottles.
Gonna need some of these easy-to-spot miniscule leaf, some of that blue goop you can find everywhere and cut some tree to get a handful of pine jizz. Yes, a very easy thing to do if you have a very easy-to-find set of items. Thank you for this guide that I can absolutely use.
Eating meat after burying it in salt is hard to do, no matter how much you rinse it. There are ways to get the best preserving effect with less salt, and there's cold smoking in combination with air drying like the native americans did
I like your content but I ONLY watch on tik tok and have very different searches on RU-vid (I just watch bobs burgers and family guy) so how are you on this too?
