I'm making all-natural vegan deodorant balms! I absolutely love this recipe and it works so wonderfully well. I also was able to finally get my solid deodorants just right with just a little tweaking of this recipe!! I bought the formular and it works . I also bought other formulas that works I wish they could come with a stick version of the deodorant.

Hi Natalie! Lower or drop the cetyl alcohol completely - that should give you a nice solid stick deo! At least that worked for me - good luck!

Hi , thanks for the video, enjoyed it very much, I all purchased this recipe a while back but found it to be quite grainy and found it was quite hard, do you have any recommendation for me. many thanks

I'm glad you liked the video! I feel your struggles!!! I would definitely drop the Cetyl Alcohol all together and try again, I think you will find the consistency to be much better for you. I've made it without the Cetyl Alcohol and actually liked it better without. Much softer and easier to apply. As far as graininess, I haven't had that problem with this recipe, but the only thing I can think of is making absolutely sure your stearic acid is completely melted. Good Luck with it! Let me know if you remember, how it turns out.

Hey Tammy just to let you know I had great success but removing the Cetyl Alcohol, also the graininess is coming from the magnesium Hydroxide, they are more like granules than powder, however I ground it up and that seems to have done the trick, so again thank you for your input and advice.

Hey Tammy, hope you are well :) I bought this deodorant from you few months ago and love it so much that I would like to make it myself so I was thinking of buying the recipe from the link you left, but living in EU, we have quite some restrictions.. I've checked with my assessors who confirmed that Diatomaceous earth & Magnesium Hydroxide would not be permitted due to a lack of toxicity data :( by any chance, do you think that those could be replace by something else in that recipe, and if yes, what would be the best replacement? or maybe does the vendor give examples of what other ingredients can be used with the recipe? I have been soaping for more than 3 years now but don't know enough yet about deodorants :/

Hi Gaelle! I looked over the ebook to see if she gave any recommendations on subbing out those two ingredients, but she really didn't. They both make up 15% of the formula. She does state that bentonite clay or Fullers Earth (not sure if that is different than the diatomaceous earth) also work. I think you could play around with the bentonite clay, upping the zinc and also the starch to offset the 15%. Last resort would be to include baking soda - but a lot of people have issues with that as it can be irritating. It's one of the reasons I liked this formula so much (lack of bs). Aside from that I think cornstarch and maybe a small bit of charcoal powder would by good additions to help make up that 15%. If you try it let me know how it goes for you!! 😃

Hi Natalie, sorry for the delay - what I do now is I drop the Cetyl alcohol completely in the balm and leave it in at 5% in the solid. That is the only thing I change. Works every time for me - good luck!!😊

How much more cetyl alcohol did you use to make a solid stick? I just bought the formulation.
