Thanks! Glad you liked the video. I always try to make things as simple and straightforward as possible. Often times, things are made to seem much more complicated than it really is. :)
Hi FireWalk! I am beginning my journey into understanding FL Studio deeper and what someone can do with it. I have seen a lot of videos on RU-vid to get inspiration and teach me FL Studio and music theory, however I can tell you that your videos are the best. Your videos are short, straight to the point and you provide so many useful ideas and tricks that I can apply directly, that I feel like you're some kind of magician telling everyone how you actually do the magic. Especially also "use your ears" instead of showing numbers and thresholds all over the screen! I think you're awesome! Keep up the good work!
first ! for once ! yes iyd like to take this opportunity to thank that people who made this possible. my mum, my pet carrot. my pet dog, the packet of gummybears i have on my table, the watch i am wearing, the cup on the side of my desk and the light switch for coming on so fast so i could type it :D
I appreciate your channel and when people don't mock me for not knowing theory. I'm always a bit ashamed of lacking that knowledge. So I always say I make sounds, not music
You could spend 10 minutes explaining how to turn on my fuacet and I'd still enjoy it. ... how have I never known about that scaler helper... Ever thought of doing a video on fuller and funkier drums/percussion. Sometimes a simple shaker really spices things up. A few times I've used random sounds i find for percussion, like coins shaking, I used a hit sound effect from minecraft once but dont know if i finished that one or was just experimenting
Can you please make a video explaining how to make a melody which matches the vocals!!! My melodies usually sound different than feel of vocals(key is off I guess). Can you tell how to make a melody in key of vocals?if I am putting it correctly.
Thank you so much for doing this video..I am wanting to be a better producer and I feel like knowing some music theory will take my production to the next level...Please do more of these videos about music theory. Again thanks
Hi thanks for all tutorials Please make a tutorial about witch Instrumental should be panning I mean hihat is better to be mono or stereo Or snare and ..... And for example piano or pads how much is need to be wide or stereo imaging 🙏❤️👍
A panning tutorial is planned. In the meantime, check out my video about the importance of mono while mixing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8rV60fE3Ygo.html
Great tutorial! But is it possible to mix minor e major in a chord progression? Another point is I just saw a similar tutorial where they said to use the 3+2 space between notes in a scale to make chords. I see you are not always using it, is there a reason? Sorry for the basic questijn I am getting confused lol
Thanks! :D Indeed! The idiot's guide to music theory :D It's actually an awesome book. I actually use it occasionally. It has a lot of quick tips and such which comes in quite handy :)
You can get it from Amazon: amzn.to/2HIofz8 You can get the E-book too of course, but digital is not always better, which is often the case with mixing and mastering too for example. I've found that it's handy to have a book quickly accessible for quick reference. I've made marks here and there to underline important stuff that I want to focus on in my tutorials etc. :)
I do know music theory (and thus chord progressions) but it’s very common that I use my ears instead of my knowledge. Quite funny I think. And I have a confession to make: I’ve produced some tracks with only one chord... 😬 Trance is what I love the most. I do have many tracks with some cool chord progressions and also some uplifting Trance tracks in major chords. Makes me happy while I’m producing haha. Can I get in contact with you via an other way than this comment section on RU-vid? I have some questions. Friendly greetings, Emiel.
cool thank you, on your Notes there stands the Key A2 E3 etc (6.46 min) on my Notes in the Chord i can´t see that key on every note.. and how can i cut a note in half (without Chop Tool). thank you, i like your tutorials !
Hi! Really great video. Quick question, I just brought producer edition and seem to have no "helper" option in the drop down menu. The options go from "view" to "snap". Do you have any idea as to why that is? Do I need Signature edition to access this tool? Cheers, Dave
You know how you used to have to practice playing an instrument and be talented to make music? Well go ahead and throw all that shit out the door, we got you covered.
Good point. Sadly, many producers these days can't even play the piano. I strongly recommend learning to play an actual instrument. It will be extremely rewarding and beneficial for your music production as well. :)
@@FireWalkMusic my comment is complete sarcasm. I play a variety a instruments and love that a recording studio can now be condensed into your bedroom per say but kids using these programs without knowing a lick about music is kind of spitting in the faces of everyone who does. It reminds me of when guitar hero came out and I had friends say they might be able to play a real guitar based off of being good at the game :/
@@bayerhead It's fantastic that anyone can now make music from their laptop, however, there are some down sides to it as well if people don't want to know anything about music theory. We might end up with music that's very basic and not as fulfilling as what we're used to. I think learning to play an actual instrument will be a huge benefit for anyone who want to compose electronic music. It simply gives you a certain understanding of music that you just don't get the same way when just plotting into the pain oroll. For example, realizing the differences between the way a human plays an instrument, vs the way a computer does it. The computer will be 100% with it's timing at all times. Totally on the grid, and the velocities will be the same each time. Humans are not like that, we're imperfect. But that imperfection is what often convey emotion when someone plays an actual instrument. Unfortunately, I find that that "essence" in a way, is often lost these days. There are ways to humanize EDM, by mimicking the way a human would play, but if you don't know about it then it won't happen. So again, like you, learning to play an actual instrument is a huge bonus in my opinion :D
I have that same book and was wondering should I learn about intervals and scales or just skip straight to chord progressions section? I'm kinda stuck in fl not sure how to get past just a simple intro😭
Most music these days, (pick any genre and compare) sounds very much the same unfortunately. There's many reasons for this. One thing is for sure, even though there's more music being made today, we just don't seem to have the same diversity any more.
@@FireWalkMusic I totally read that comment in your voice-over narration voice. I agree, it’s all about having the right influences in your music, and then altering it to make it your own. As one of my favorite composers of all time, John Williams says, “my success is on the backs of composers before me” (paraphrased).
Haha! It's a good pack though, especially for beginners and people who struggle with music theory. I believe it will make it easier to understand chords and chord progressions. :)
Music theory will come in really handy. At the very least, any music producer should know at least a minimum of theory. I actually have a whole video about this topic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DmKwvKkOID8.html
Hi, sorry to hear that you didn't like it. It would be more helpful if you could let me know what you felt was missing, so that I can improve my tutorials in the future. :)
