Not a complaint, but I wouldn't mind hearing all of the insights and banter between Chris and Matt rather than speeding up the process. Yes, it can be boring as a job goes, but the information and "hang out" factor is actually much appreciated here! Just saying. 😏

I would still be interested in seeing how you drill and install the threaded inserts! Love the videos!

Glad to see new videos and this build specifically coming together. Are you still working in the shed for the acoustics? Any chance we can get a tour of that work space? Be nice to see your flow/setup in a smaller space.

Chris, thanks so much for continuing this build on camera! I preface this comment with the fact that your series has been my key guide on my first build, but this would have really been helpful, three guitars ago;) Had to figure out neck setting by fumbling along, and a couple of tips for folks coming along behind me. First, getting the threaded insert accurately set in the neck tenon is a real bitch, but given how the mortise/tenon will tend to lock things in place it's acceptable to file the hole in the body a little wider so that the bolts will actually thread into the insert.. And second, assuming that the end of your guitar is square, when you relieve the neck angle to the 1 1/2 degree or so to get that 2/2.5 mm at the bridge, that will cause the fingerboard extension to fly above the soundboard near the sound hole. You can deal with this like Chris did with his Martin neck reset, OR you can sand the body to the complementary angle from the neck to the sound hole. This is actually pretty easy as you dome the ribs for the top fit...and I'm sure there are even better ways, but the flying fretboard is a real bummer to discover if you haven't compensated for it and discover it very late in the game...ask me how I know;)

Chris , PSA sandpaper strips W/O removing the backing! Awesome!! All these years tearing my strips! And taking the router around the the tenon jig one last time to leave the cheeks proud; I've always done that by chisel. An old dog can learn new tricks. Thanks!

Love this series. Just trying to understand your calculations for the target gap at the bridge. Fretboard is 6.35mm (1/4”) and medium frets are 1.22mm for a combined height of 8.57mm. With a 2mm target gap, this means the top of your saddle should be at 10.57mm, correct? With a 10mm bridge, does that mean your saddle is only 0.57mm proud of your bridge? Seems like that’s not enough.

Chris, I was just on Driftwood Guitars website looking for close up pics of the transition areas of your arm bevels. Beautiful work but no closeups of those areas. I also bought the Kent Everett course on arm bevels but no great pics there either. Any closeups would be greatly appreciated. One other question as well, what is the thickness of the veneer you attached in the second attempt? Kent does not mention this and if you did I missed it! Cheers and keep up the great educational and inspirational vids.

Just curious how you came to the decision to create the cheeks to save labor when you very obviously are striving for perfection. Does it alter the way the guitar sounds or resonates? I imagine you have done enough both ways to determine, and maybe you hear a benefit from less wood touching. Or does the joint have more to do with the neck angle than anything else? I have great respect for your work.

I think there's a typo in your title, it says how to build a 3000-year-old guitar, but I think it was supposed to say how to build a guitar in 3000 years, right?
