In this video I'll show how to make a penny can alcohol stove using Arizona tea cans. I like these cans because they're thicker and hold more fuel. Enjoy!

@@starobservers9862 right. The idea is cool and I'm looking forward to trying it after I get answers. There are great videos HE could watch on editing that would make people watch more. I was going to subscribe but the attitude toward questions and the lack of editing technique is why I'm not. If you're seeing the same question from multiple viewers why not answer them and pin the comment to the top so that when new viewers have the same question and take the time to come down to comment they'll see it and not have to ask. Real talk, if I'm going to have to watch another video to get the answer I'm going to find another RU-vidr to get the info from since this one has the attitude he does. Great thing about RU-vid is there are 5000 others doing the same stuff. The way you respond to your viewers determines if they become supporters of your channel or not.

Nice work brother. During the Gulf War, we used to make these out of pop cans but we had to use regular fuel, from helicopters. We mixed sand in place of the insulation you have and this kept the fuel under control. Great heat and a great way to cook food and have a warm meal. We actually made a depression into the ground where we could add our penny can and added arteries to run fresh air to it... then we could place a canteen cup over the can and not smother the flame. This works well and I appreciate you sharing it with the channel viewers here. Take care.

I'll be making me a bunch of these x 4 to separate a little and use together for a small but powerful cooking stove. Crisco Shortening is somewhat inexpensive and burns for hours and hours at a time! There are RU-vid videos to show you how to make a Crisco Candel. Just remember to always make them out of can materials, (not any glass jars like some RU-vid influencers tell you to do). That's because Crisco Shortening is not candle wax and does not burn the same. Crisco Shortening is an oil and gets extremely hot and might perhaps burst the glass, making it unsafe and dangerous. Don't risk glass just use can tins. I sure do like the way you made a custom fit top for it to extinguish the flame when done with. You get an A+ Sir for this one!!!
@mikeh8228
@mikeh8228 Год назад
My wife and I keep several extra cans of Crisco in the pantry and not for cooking....just buy a few small diameter candle wicks, or even take some 3" birthday candles and push them down into the crisco, then light the candles or wicks. Lasts a very long time, and can be extinquished and reused for cooking, or evening lighting! Be certain not to use the plastic crisco cans, but find a larger metal tomato can or such and put the crisco in it if you cannot find the old style crisco can. These are very useful as multiple day candles and a lot cheaper! HA HA

Safety tip: Only use pennies from before 1982 as they are pure copper. After 1982, they were made of zinc with copper coating. Zinc melts at a lower temperature than copper, which can cause it to expand, rupturing the copper coating like a grenade and sending molten metal everywhere.

Nice blue flames, efficient combustion. Living in TX with an unreliable electric grid, this will come in real handy when we inevitably lose power. Over the holidays, we’ll just have a crafting day with the kids, since these can be made, and then stored (unfueled so safer than Sterno cans) for use later. Even make extras to have on hand for neighbors, or to give as novel, but ultimately very useful, gifts to friends and family also reliant on the TX grid. Thank you!

I remember those tough cans. I struggled to open a popcan as a 12 year old. I brought it to my dad for help. I had inadvertently shaken it in my attempts. My dad pierced the top with the triangular blade. The contents shot up to the ceiling. I had to convince my dad that it was an innocent mistake, not a prank. Back in the 80's when i was a kid my dad showed me how to make a little stove using a tuna can, some cardboard, and some paraffin wax. oh and a coffee can. Take the lid off the can, give tuna to a cat, cut cardboard strip the width of the cans height, then roll tightly into a hockey puck shape, and stuff in can. Then melt wax into the cardboard. Then put a coffee can over the top of it with a series of holes around the bottom (open end) edge. The coffee can makes for a frying pan or you can omit that if you already got one of those handy.

Thank you for the great video! You did a great job and your efforts to teach us old folks some new tricks is very much appreciated. I am a disabled VET and served in the US Navy Submarine Service for over 30 years. Cannot walk now very much but, I can use my hands. My grandkids love to camp and backpack, so I am always looking for ideas to help support their hobby. Your RU-vid video was a great idea for me to further assist the grandkids. I was not able to find any Arizona Tea Cans in any of my local stores, I live in a small farm town in Western Michigan, but I was able to find 25 oz cans of the Australian beer FOSTERS. I believe the diameter is slightly bigger than the Arizona Cans. Anyway I tried the FOSTERS 25 oz cans and It worked great. In addition I got to have a little beer, so I really enjoyed myself while making something useful for the kids. One plus for using FOSTER cans, is that I got a longer burn time for one load of fuel (HEET). The FOSTER can held about 4oz of fuel. I got approximately 30 minutes during one test run. My general rule is that the burn time is equal to about 15minutes for every 2 oz of fuel. Respectfully, George Keefe

This alcohol/spirit stove is very practical in conflict zones where concealment is of vital importance. It doesn't give out smoke, gives out very little light which is negligible especially when cooking/heating food at night and gives out more concentrated heat than conventional cooking using wood, it can easily be packed in an army rucksack bag, an 800ml thinner grade denatured Ethanol will give you weeks of heating and cooking in an outpost. Enjoyed the whole video especially the detailed explanations and making . . . Greetings from India.

When people use stove like this, they just need to remember to have a good stand to support the pan or pot and to have a protective surrounding to shield the heat in and wind out. I'm a coin nerd, so I have to say.. "Actually sir", the three US Mints in 1982 Philly, Denver, and San francisco made 7 different variations. The start of 82' the mints used up left over brass penny blanks then the new clad zinc some large date some small date. you can tell by dropping them like old silver coins the ping will be different. and I just noticed the video is 5 years old...Doh
