Excellent tutorial, deserves more views indeed! It would have been nice to see how you animated the main character but we can't ask for all :), you are very talented congrats!

Just came across your channel through Spider IK video and fell in love with the atmosphere in the scene. I don’t know anything about art. Hope i can achieve results like this. Thank you man.

@@ThatOneUnityDev I am bad at art, I don’t have a good sense of art, colors, etc. Have been trying to create beautiful looking characters and environment but didn’t succeed yet. Starting with your videos today. Hope I will be able to create something good. Thanks man…🖤

You definitely earned a sub. Very nice and simple regarding atmosphere. I do wonder though, how do you deal with orthographic size, aspect ratios, resolutions, and Pixels Per Units? I read an article but I’m still trying to wrap my head around it and there are times when 2d art ends up blurry in the game view
@ThatOneUnityDev
@ThatOneUnityDev 3 года назад
Thank you so much! Those are very good questions. I manually set my resolution to 1920x1080 for every game I make, and support a 16:9 aspect ration when building the game. For the Orthographic size I usually use whatever I feel is best for the game. The ppu should represent the resolution your making the sprites in, for example a 64x64 sprite should have 64 ppu imo. The reason your sprites may be blurry is because you need to set your filter mode to point (no filter) in the sprites import settings. Hope I helped :)

How did you make the animations?
@ThatOneUnityDev
@ThatOneUnityDev Год назад
If you notice in photoshop, I have all of my body parts on different layers. After I had my character looking nice, I arranged each body part into a sprite sheet layout, and imported that into unity. (If your body parts aren't on separate layers, you can always do this after with the lasso tool)... In unity, by adjusting the pivot point on each body part (in the sprite editor), and piecing my character back together, I could now control each body part. All I did from there was make them children of an empty character object, and create all the animations in unity. Most of the animations are simple rotations of the body parts, and the blinking is done by scaling the eyes Y. Hopefully that helps! :)

shouldnt you be using illustrator instead of photoshop to tak advantage of vectors
@ThatOneUnityDev
@ThatOneUnityDev 3 года назад
Thanks for asking, that's a really good question! You could definetly use illustrator instead for a more polished sprite. But in my opinion, it mainly comes down to what art style your going for. In my case, I used photoshop to demonstrate that any program can be used to achieve an atmospheric look, as well as I am more familiar with it.

Hey, can you please change to a new microphone before creating any other cool game video? It just hurts my ears and isn't great to listen to. Thanks.
@ThatOneUnityDev

Thank you for the constructive criticism. Can you go into a bit more detail regarding the audio quality and what part of it bothered you? I am using a blue yeti microphone, which has a reputation for very good quality. So I'm thinking it has more to do with HOW it was recorded, and not the hardware.
