This is part 2 of my series of making a full Iron Man Mark 85 suit from Avengers: Endgame! This DIY helmet is made completely out of EVA foam, and this tutorial takes you step-by-step to show you how to make your own! Enjoy making and stay safe!

Template: drive.google.c...
Print on US Letter size (8.5"x11" paper). This template is designed for a 23" head, so make sure to scale it up or down in your printer settings if you are a different size.

Instead of just painting straight on to the foam. You can use black plasti-dip to prime it. It'll make the finished product way more smooth and it'll get rid of the weird foam texture. It also makes metalic spray paint pop way more than just spraying paint without primer.

I hate to say it, but the linked templates are simply wrong. Many of the pieces are clearly the wrong shape and don’t fit together the way shown in this video (for example the cheek pieces of the face mask). Also, on the template many edges are marked as needed to be cut at an angle, but doing so will result in sharp corners where there shouldn’t be once glued together (like the back of the helmet which definitely should be round). I absolutely appreciate when creators share the templates for free, but not when they are clearly wrong. I wasted a lot of foam cutting pieces that can’t be used.

Can I ask, how much accuracy did you want, from your IRON MAN helmet build? it's good to see people demonstrating how to make technical things like this WITH OUT using 3d print methods, that fog me, OR the Pepekura printed pattern procedure. I'm making my own...IRON MAN 2 life sized bust, out of house insulation foam, that's going...well I think, with anything like this - TERMINATOR Skull, ROBOCOP, IRON MAN the biggest head ache is always symmetry, I always find, getting it all accurate from both left & right angles, VERY tough, BUT if you can do that, anything's possible

Have you tried the Plaid FX cosplay paint. It's my go to for priming and painting props and I love it. It goes on clean and other brands cling to it nicely. Plus a clear coat of Mogpog helps prevent cracks. I use that for many weapons and armor over the years.

My son wanted to make an Ironman mask and found this video with templates. The templates were not uploaded correctly. It appears that some of them were uploaded in landscape but should have been in portrait, and this caused them to be out of scale. Of course, you don't notice this until all your pieces are cut out and you start assembling. Such a waste of time and now my son is so bummed. Now his search for another helmet is on.

Okay. I tried to make it and bro trust me it's not as easy as you're making it seem like. Daaamn... You seem to have used the Pepekura method, but WITHOUT precise printed patterns, which is very clever, you can't get the same level of accuracy, BUT this looks not bad, with some modifications, I'll try this myself.

You could but you may need to harden the helmet somehow so that it keeps it shape. Otherwise the foam might be too flimsy and won’t align well
