In the 70`s we made lanterns with a Jam jar and a food can. Put safety glasses and gloves on , place boiling water into the Jam jar then sit the jar in could water and tap the bottom from inside and the thermal shock would break it. On the now open end we would push the can down on the jar n use a glue. Then put some holes in the Jam jar lid and place candle on it and some holes on the can which it the top and a wire coat hanger through for the handle. Wind and water proof and could heat up things.
I’ve done something like this too, I made a lantern in my outdoor skills class at school too. Another thing, ive also gone a little more in depth and made a sterling engine out of coat hangers, aluminum cans, paint sticks and steel wool, amazing what you can create out of things in your own home, really enjoying your channel, keep em coming

I'm curious as to how you learned to make this. As a kid we made "hurricane lamps" out of tin cans. It seems to me we got the inspiration out of some outdoor magazine my father subscribed to like Sports Afield or Field and Stream.
