I'm glad this was the first video that popped up when I was looking info on polearm handles. Working on making a training poleaxe for HEMA 👍 thanks for another awesome video
OH MY GOD ELI DID YOU REALLY MAKE A BOB ROSS REFERENCE WHEN YOU ANGLED THE SAW BLADE?! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO BE ANY MORE PROUD OF YOU; FAVE RU-vidR OF ALL TIME!
RCG is right, Eli. Please use a push stick during your table saw use. Too many people I know have a shorter digit because they didn't use said push stick. Those people's hands (fingers/thumbs) are freaky looking now.
Just a tip. When you are welding, try resting your hand on your other hand to steady it. Also let the initial bead form before you start moving your arc. Keep up the great work!
Hickory is great for a nice light weight handle. If you want a quarter stave or just a stiffer handle with more weight I would recommend oak or Kaori wood.
In order to take the corners off after using the table saw to make it more round, I used a hand plane set to take off very, very little at a time. It worked very well. After that, I hand sanded it.
Great video. I'm late to the conversation here, but take a look at Diresta's table saw tips. He does a thing he calls a rip and flip that is really slick, easy and super safe.
This definitely needs wrapped to keep it from ever splitting.... Especially if it's a spear, the shock on impact would eventually cause it to separate. I would have added some scratches to help them bond a little better and maybe a couple cross drilled holes w/ chopstick sized dowels epoxied in... That would make an awesome addition to my weapons collection, now I can make it myself. 😁
use titebond 2 and scuff the surface of the wood before glooing them together.. To keep the wood alligned and prevent slipping sprinkle salt on the glue before marrying the two pieces together!
Eli, if you ever remake the bo staff, you need to taper the ends a bit so they're thinner than the end (but not too thin) for anyone who wanta to make a bo staff, that might help.
The fact that you even acknowledge these people talking crap shows that you care dude. Just ignore it and let them be the trolls they were born to be. You can be whoever you want on the internet and most people choose to be idiots. Just some friendly advice bud.
Hey, you should try using your drill as a lathe. I see a lot of people doing that now on RU-vid. You kind of already do, when you make spikes and points with your drill and your angle grinder... you'd just clamp the drill to your table or something.
I did notice at the beginning of the video you did have some pretty good gun safety as in not putting your finger in the trigger well. Ps I have the same model what do you use to clean it or is it just a new gun mine works perfectly it's more for looks.
