Fantastic lesson! It's like going from using only primary colours to getting one of those jumbo Crayola boxes with fifty shades of everything. I recently started playing around with this on Hookpad and was so surprised at how different chord properties can change the emotion. It's almost like a brand new hidden chord. I mean it is.... but its not really. I'm not skilled enough on the guitar as to have all of the variations at the tip of my fingers.
Cheers Cutter, it's a les paul studio swamp ash. It sounds great, has a nice warm tone with a bit of bite to it. The only real draw back is that it's pretty heavy. I used to play 2-3 hr gigs every night with it and it took a significnt toll on my neck and back. (but it looks cool AF)
well 4/4 is the time signature, each bar is in 4/4 time (4 beats to a bar). You can put as many bars as you want in a particular section of a song regardless of the time signature. The uneven amount of bars makes the section sound, well, uneven. That adds to the emotional feel of the section. Does that make sense?
