It's butter time! Making butter at home can be intimidating, BUT that doesn't mean it's hard! Making butter is one of the easiest homemade tasks you can take on. If you have a KitchenAid mixer, some heavy cream and 25 minutes, you can have butter!
In just two easy steps you'll have all the butter you want! First, add cream to your mixer and mix until it separates from the buttermilk. Then, rinse until the water runs clear. THAT'S IT!
Have you made homemade butter this way? I want to know below!

Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to make this this video! I'm making butter for the first time today and you've made this so simple! God bless!!

i saw another video of someone also using a mixer to make butter and instead of washing the butter manually she simply poured out the buttermilk and added cold water into the mixing bowl. then she just used the mixer again to remove any remaining buttermilk, changing the water out until it was clear.

This is fantastic! I did this today with another video but yours is more informative! It is so easy to make butter and buttermilk. And both are expensive! Thanks!

Nice Job ! When I Was Growing up We put the cream from the cow milk in a Half Gallon Jar And we all took turns shaking it till we had butter ! It was fun for 6 kids to see who could shake it the longest time ! LOL Sounds Crazy Now ! Have a Great Weekend !

Thank you so much! Butter's price has been BOOMING here on my small town so now it's pretty hard to continue my baking passion but now I can make amazing butter for half the price!

I’m glad you find it cheaper to make your own butter. Where I live the prices of cream are just as high (if not higher) than butter.

Hi…I enjoyed your video and enjoyed making homemade butter. I have a few questions, though. Could you explain more why this is a more sustainable choice? What differs in how the butter and cream are commercially made and sold? Also, what are your cost savings? I realize I am commenting after a very long four years where grocery prices have skyrocketed, but it actually seems to be more expensive to buy cream than butter. I realize you get buttermilk, too, but I rarely use that and when a recipe calls for it I use 2% milk with a touch of vinegar.

We don’t have a stand mixer here on our homestead but man this makes me want to buy one. Last time we made butter (from our goat’s fresh raw milk) we did the shake method. Took forever. 😂

Omg, yes! We used my grandmas old hand churn once... that was all it took haha. I use my kitchen aid so much for kneading bread, etc. I’d be lost without it.

You can rinse out the buttermilk in the KitchenAid as well. Just pour in some ice water, rinse and repeat until the water is clear. This way you waste less water and don't have to do it by hands.

Found you because of Jill as well! Was wondering what you put the butter in when you froze it? Just a freeze safe plastic container or? Thanks!

I tried this in my Kitchen aid mixer and it never got past whipped cream what did I do wrong

Hi ya! Using the standing mixer set at 10, went from heavy creamy to the heavy whip cream in 5 minutes. After that, seemed to take forever to separate between butter and the buttermilk. How long should it take, as all the videos we’ve seen say 5 minute butter? Mixer has been running for 30+ minutes and hasn’t formed so we can pull the milk. Last night it worked fine
@UncommonRootsHomestead
@UncommonRootsHomestead 3 года назад
It usually takes about 15 minutes in my experience, but nothings going to hurt it if you let it run longer. I’d say if you don’t have butter by the 30 minute mark something wasn’t right with your cream there may not of been enough heavy cream to milk ratio.

Wife was determined and ran it for hours. Whipped butter it is!! was great on toast this morning and cooking last night

Fat content should be no less than 36% and it should be either raw or low-pasteurized. That will be either one of the reasons why you didn't get actual butter.
