I'm a dental tech.with 51 years experience.I've fabricated hundreds if not thousands of Ortho .appliances .My first rule is to survey the tooth,bend the clasp to just engage the undercut as engaging it too much could eventually damage the tooth when inserting or removing the appliance.I keep my tag only as long as needed and roughen it up so the acrylic adheres to it better.The acrylic is weaker where the tag is so the shorter the better,less chance of breakage.
