Learn how to polish minerals and gems with easy-to-get materials (home method).
With this technique you can polish minerals of low hardness such as:
Amber (Fosil resin) Aragonite, malachite, lapis lazuli, rhodochrosite, calcite, fluorite, azurite, etc.
Materials that we need ✔️:
1- Minerals or gems of low hardness
2- Water sandpaper (Water sandpaper / Waterproof sandpaper)

(can be used with 10000 grit sandpaper would be much better)
3- White toothpaste (it will help the final polishing) for minerals it is advisable to use cerium oxide
4- Flannel
5- base (plate) of expanded polystyrene (or styrofoam) - will avoid damaging the pieces by polishing on hard surfaces
6- container with water for polishing
We must take into account the shape of the raw material that we work and visualize the optimal form of the type of cabochon we want to make.
try to imitate the shape of a cabochon when polishing with the sandpaper making soft undulatory movements to shape it.
