Not sure if I understood your question but charcoal dust is what is used to make the briquettes. The soil only acts as binding agent.

The correct ratios should be 1/2: 1 , clay soil to charcoal dust. Clay soil is for binding so just a little is enough.

We are using clay because it has a sticky element that is good for binding. You can use other binding agents like cow poop, baking flour, cassava flour. There are videos on this channel please check them out
