Have you tried it with turquoise paint or maybe copper paint? It seems like it would make it look like it had an old patina.

I think I would start to use the vinegar and water after the second coat to see what that looked like , then use a deep purple as someone else sugests .

This does NOT work on the plastic ornaments. Stick to the glass, they're much more classy and extremely affordable these days...check your local dollar store, or after Christmas sales.

i tried to put the paint inside the balls bit it didn't stay I had to redue them so u could u tell me what I did wrong I didn't have glass balls I had plastic could've that been y please let me know what I did wrong I want to do it again this year

"Mercury Glass" is something completely different; actual mercury trapped between two layers of glass. Standard vintage ornaments had silver nitrate on the inside of the glass ornament.
