How to make clay pumpkins!

I’m using Standard speckled brown 112 and about 2 Lbs of clay for the demo pumpkin.

Thank you so much! They are hollow wheel thrown. I made sure to leave a small hole close to the stem, for the air to escape.👍🏻

Ana, Do you fire twice so the colors do not run? or are there specific glazes that stay where you want them to stay?

I usually fire once for bisque and once for glaze at cone 5.5 slow cool schedule. I think is depends on what glaze you use, some run and some don’t. The ones I used on these pumpkins run, so I applied a thinner coat towards the bottom.

I was thinking low fire and low fire glaze maybe might work to keep runs from happening. thanks for the info., love your work. you have wonderful creativity.

If you can throw, you can do it. However I’ve seen some hand built pumpkins. The altering part is easy, just don’t let it get to leather hard. I like to alter when it’s a soft leather hard when the clay is still malleable.👍🏻💕
