Eh used to weigh a lot last year, and have like 500$ worth of jeans that are a few sizes to big, might just wait till I'm like 17 to try them on again.
My grandmother got me a shirt which was too small so she sent me a new one, which is a men's medium. Mind you I am a young teenage girl who's 5'0" and is due to stop growing.
Tip: If you do this, and it ends up being to small, get a bowl with ice cold water + some ice cubes, put 1 cup hair conditioner in the bowl, and then put the shirt in, it will end of getting a little bigger :)
Guys this actually works really well! I ordered my clothes for cheer camp a size too big so I quickly did this and my clothes fit soooo much better now!
Just some notes for myself 0:19 Put clothes in sink 0:22 Boil water on the stove in a teapot or a pot 0:30 when the water is boiling, pour it in your clothes 0:39 let clothes sit until the hot water is cool 0:52 ring out your clothes a little bit 1:05 Put your clothes in the washing machine with the hottest setting possible. After put them in the dryer on hottest setting
This depends on the fabric. Polyester fabrics will start to melt around 230°F. Boiling water is 220°F. So I recommend letting that water cool off for a couple of minutes. Then put it in the dryer for 10-15 minute intervals on the highest heat setting. Make sure your dryer is not going to be over 180°F though. Polyester is a plastic and can melt. Even if it's a polyester/cotton blend I would still keep a close eye on it. Do one garment by itself. When putting in washing machine turn the garment inside out. No detergent is necessary.
It worked! I bought a polyester top online to wear at a Christmas party but the size I chose was way too big. I tried this method and the top shrank considerably. Thanks, you're a life saver 😊
Ok I’m gonna try this🤞🏽 Edit: So this actually works for those asking it works with polyester and the boiling water has a purpose it gets it a head start to shrink I shrinked my flare pants and dress with more stuff and it works I would give it 2 rounds tho! 👍🏽
GACHA can confirm this works. I did wash the hoodie how I’d normally wash my clothes just to see if that’d shrink it any first but it didn’t so I followed what she did without soaking it in boiling water beforehand and my hoodie did end up shrinking some. Not as much as I hoped but it also may just be how the company I bought the hoodie from makes their clothing!
Well not everyone can gain weight easily and some people may have worked hard to lose their weight so they’re probably not just going to gain it right back
Thank's Rachel, followed your instruction to the Tee:)on a 2010 XLBrand New 2010 GNR Tour T-shirt-no fade on the print&the trick seems to be a long hot tumble in the dryer!!:)Again, very helpful:)
Why is there many people one here that keep saying can I can shrink this? Can I shrink that? Just try it and find out. The worst thing that could happend is that it your clothes dont shrink.
HalfMan HalfAmazing I want to return the shirt cause it doesn't fit me but it clearly states I can't wash it to return it, so I wanna know if it will work before I do it.
Thanks so much for the tips! I recently bought a pair of high-rise pinstripe trousers, but they were too big. This should definitely work for rayon. 😊👍
It depends on the type of knit or weave in the fabric. Some cotton clothes, wont shrink even a bit despite near boiling water. What it achieved was bleeding some colors out.
Hi there I’ve just bought a gorgeous pair of real cotton jeans 👖 only prob being is there like half a size/maybe as much as a whole size even, I’m in the Uk and basically NEXt only had size 18 and I ideally needed 16 so I’m wondering you think this will work for ? Would like to try in the morning if possible x
Can you go straight from the soaking in boiling water to wringing and putting in the dryer, or does the extra step of washing in the washer do something?
does this work with denim?? if i bought a pair of jeans that were two sizes too big will the shrinking method work still and reduce the size significantly?
Can someone plz reply asap bcuz i rlly need to wear dis hoodie tmr but its too big on me so i need to shrink it,, so does it work on a 82% Cotton and 18% Polyster ?? im scared dat it might shrink unevenly and its a pure white hoodie but da logo is blue so will it blend or something or lose da colour? sorry im stupid but someone plz reply and how can i shrink a medium hoodie to small like how long am i supposed to soak it in order to do dis??
Gonna try this with a fabric watch band that stretched. I just don't have a dryer, so it'll have to airdry and hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks, 9 year ago person!
Some clothing brands and garments are pre-washed so it won’t get much smaller. Some brands do advertise this but it’s probably the case that this one wasn’t 👍
I got 2 ribbed tank tops from H&M 83 percent cotton 17 polyester. If I wash it in warm and dry in hot will it shrink then less? I just need it a lil tighter
Anybody know an approximate percentage the clothes get smaller this way? I'm trying to shrink 4XL to around 3XL and I was wondering if I should do as suggested in the video or maybe do less heat or do the process even twice or so. Any help?
What do y’all mean by does it work in 2019 and what do you mean by patches like does my clothes know what year it is so that way they don’t shrink or what’s up
I bought a shirt that is long and the arms are even baggy. If I try to shrink it, would it fix all those things or will it just end up making the shirt tighter around my stomach?
Don’t forget, if you put your clothes in boiling water or even very hot water, you risk losing the quality and color of your clothes. I say buy a smaller size if you can, and if you can’t, get them tailored.
