thank you so much for your videos - i learn so many things- thanks to you!!! keep on making them so that we can learn new ideas and suggestions- THANK YOU!!!!
+meriem zemouchi Sorry :( but I don't remember exactly. For my new projects I have started counting the exact number. Maybe here it should be around 50 tubes. Also the no. of tubes used depends on the size of the bowl and you can always add more tubes if you find your disk is smaller than required. Just use a pin to hold the disk in place and continue coiling when you have made more tubes :)
Super nice! I'm going to try making a bowl and lid with my granddaughter. I'm sure she will love this artful craft. Thank you for the excellent instruction.
Thanks for the tips with the pins :). I have another question . Do I wet unpainted paper tubes. I have read you should when they are painted, but is it the same for unpainted tubes?. Thanks for all your wonderful videos. I have found a new hobby :) xx
For this bowl you don't need to wet the tubes. For weaving you can wet the tubes, which helps to give an even texture. I have woven baskets with both painted and unpainted tubes without wetting them and they look great. I don't think you need to wet unpainted tubes at all. And the best way to know is to try yourself because everyone has different preferences. Just make a small basket with both techniques and see what works best for you. Good Luck 😊
I tried this but... When i was trying to shape it into a bowl, the roll was coming out in between and i had a tough time rolling it over and over. I failed miserably! Now when i rewatched thw video, i think i rolled it very thin and the roll is tapering. Next time i would try to roll it so that it is flat and equal on both ends. Wonderful work! Thanx for sharing!
+sree pillai If you are new to this try making thick tubes for this project. And you need to be extremely careful while shaping the bowl. Be slow and push very gradually.
It's a very nice idea of making something very good by using newspapers.... It looks awesome and very creative.... I feel the pot would look good without painting it... the print of the newspaper gave a good look before painting it.... The black and white gaps in the middle was really fabulous...before painting. If I would be in ur place I would paint the top edge of the lid and bowl with black...
If you are new to this then it is natural to have uneven and different sized tubes. It is perfectly OK and will get better as you make more tubes. Also, the tubes are slightly wider at one end. It is required this way so that they can be inserted into each other for joining them. But the difference is very less and noticeable only if seen closely. If the difference is very big then you need to practice a little. And even if your tubes are uneven, I am sure your baskets will still look amazing. If you think your tube is fat don't unroll and roll again. Just let it be and make the next tube. If you try to judge every tube and unroll if it does not look good to you it will make you frustrated in a short time. On the other hand if you roll your tubes irrespective of whether it is correct or not, you will discover that an amazingly large no of tubes will be good. Also, it takes more time to unroll and roll a tube than it takes to make a new one. For better results you can sort your tubes in piles based on thickness and then use tubes of same thickness for one article or just discard some tubes if they are of very different size. Good Luck 😊😊
Good work...anyone can make it...what can we use these bowls for??? I mean I don't it's gonna take any weight. ..pls suggest n appreciate ur work....God bless u
If the inner coils get losse, lay the coil on a flat surface, press with one hand at the center and pull the tube at the edge using other hand. this will tighten the coil. As shown at 2:31 and 2:58
