Do you know how to make comparisons in Spanish? ¿Sabes cómo comparar en español?
Este es el primer video de una serie nueva para aprender a comparar en español.
Vamos a aprender a hacer comparaciones de desigualdad (unequal comparisons) y de igualdad (equal comparisons).
En este video voy a enseñarte cómo hacer comparaciones de desigualdad en español, cómo decir, por ejemplo: “more than, less than, better than in Spanish”.
También vamos a ver algunas excepciones y errores comunes en español cuando hacemos comparaciones.

Pausa el video y trata de traducir las frases y luego, chequea las respuestas correctas. ¿Cómo te fue? . . Pause the video and try to translate he sentences and then check the correct answers. How was it?

This is the episode that put you over 4,000 subscribers Paula! Congratulations I remember congratulating you on your first 1,000. I think that part of the reason for your rapid growth in popularity is that you take the the time to read and like every comment and frequently reply. This is leading your watchers to become a community. Your community may well grow again grow by a factor of four in the next year. I think you have come up with a winning formula! i noticed, you dont pronuance S at the end of anything...exmp..MENO no MENOSSSS and tu comeSS but pronunciation tu come, almost i do not hear S sound,, is it correct ??

I’m pronouncing the “s” here throughout all the video (I listened to it carefully and yes, I’m using my “s” 😆) It’s true that sometimes we tend to drop the final “s” in some words, but it’s not the case in this video.

Tu casa es mas grande que mia. Mi casa es mas pequeña que tuya. Hers would be suya or suyo and there's would also be suya and suyo in the usted form. At least that is what I think. Good to have you back Paula! We missed you last week. There is a really old video that Paula made about personal pronouns that I went back and reviewed. It was one of her very early ones that got me started on becoming one of her fans. Un viernes con Paula es mejor que un viernes sin Paula. A friday with Paula is better than a Friday without Paula.

I believe it would be "Tu casa es más grande que *la* mía", "Mi casa es más pequeña que *la* tuya", etc. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain.

Not the strongest arguement but according to Google translate we need the "la", but google thinks it is "es" rather than "esta". I think it depends on if the state of being bigger is a permanent condition. If I am working on my house and very soon it will be bigger than yours maybe "esta" would be correct. This is all speculation on my part.

@@ericbaugher I can't understand why estar would be used. Ser makes more sense to me. I'm obviously not a native speaker (hence why I'm subscribed to Paula), but I know that ser is used for descriptions. I'd imagine if your house would be bigger than mine in the future, you'd say, "Mi casa será más grande que la tuya", once again using ser. I'm not really sure why Peter suggested estar. I can't for the life of me imagine why it would be estar. I'm not saying he's wrong, I just can't see how he's right. Hopefully Paula will put this all to rest soon :-)
