I have been following all your videos in recent times, watching videos kindles me and interests has increased day by day. Thank you for your detailed information on basics of gardening.
I have tried this compost earlier multiple times, but it wasn't successful. Now, the simple tips (wet and dry ratio, daily stirring, keeping the holes in the top of the bucket) that you have given made this attempt successful. thank you very much. :)
Sir, I use 20 ltr. buckets for composting veg. waste. But I have a few problems. The waste becomes watery and gives bad smell. I want to know1. Upto what capacity can we fill with waste? 1/3 or 1/2?2. How often should we use curd or buttermilk for creating microbes? The method I follow is-After filling 1/2 or 3/4 bucket, I keep aside for few days. To remove excess water, I pour waste into ground on a mesh so that only water is absorbed. After about 1 month, the compost is formed but very dry not moist as u have told. But it has a sweet earthy smell. Can I use it directly? Please guide me as I prepare for the aadi season.
Happy to hear your updates. All the best for your tomato harvest. Expand your garden with more varieties once you are comfortable with the methods and getting time.
The my query on ncof composting. Your video on kitchen waste ...microbes etc I have seen. The point is wdc of ncof is entirely different. It decomposes on the soil without creating heat and faster decomposing. Low one time cost 20 only...own preparation by using jaggery 2kg for 200 litre. It can be applied on leaves for better crop cultivation etc. Seed treatment also possible. See video of Kishna chandra on RU-vid and then reply sir. I am regular follower of Your channel and member of terrace garden group.Chennai.
Hi, Thanks for those details. I saw his video. That seems to be a good way of composting good volume of wastes. As I am just using it to compost only vegetable waste, in very small quantity that come daily out of kitchen, this method is easy for me. I will explore that option as well and see if I can implement it.
Anna vannakam very useful information i will try to make it in small level .very detail one good tkq .pl adjust yr voice .very low pl increase yr voice .ok tkq
Thanks for your comment. Yes. For the audio part, I am correcting it in my latest video. Hope my recent videos are fine. Check and let me know your feedback
Sir we have a small garden space can i dig a pit in the garden and put the food waste meterials and make compost as for your instruction . Should we keep the pit closed. How to close the ground pit.
Sir just I have started watching videos I have started to do compost. I got some cow dung I mixed it with neem leaves kept for drying , white worms and puraan has come I was afraid I am in flats how to dry that
Another question sir, u have told we can add dry leaves. But dry leaves can they decompose so easily? I have tried but failed. I think dry leaves can only be burnt and used as wood ash. Please clarify.
Thank you sir. Lot of people explained about composting. But you have explained it very clearly. Surely I will follow your method. Do we need to keep under sunlight? In our balcony, we will get sunlight just for 1 hour. Please explain. Thank you sir.
Why holes only on a single horizontal line at top ? All other videos shows compost bin with numerous holes throughout the drum and bottom as well as top. But u didn't drill as many or at the top ? Why no top holes ? Bottom holes u said not required but is there any harm to have it ?
Anna semma simple and easy ya explain pannrenga - hats off - I've a big cover full of egg shells and garlic peel - pls gv Idea hw to add this to plants or to compost🙏🙏🙏
Ur explanations r very clear U can add English titles for more viewership Can v add dried tealeaves instead of dry leaves or cocopit Just for knowledge Thank you
Sir niraya worms vandruku.... nan bucket la than niraya holes pottu seiren... thideernu partha niraya pulu iruku... appo adhu waste aa... kottitu vera seiyanuma? Illa idhaye rework pannalama... ana nalla black a compost aaga arambichiruku and smell illa
Sir if we are able to fill the compost bin within a single day for if we are adding banan tree steam, leaf and kitchen waste with dried leaves. can we reduce the composting time?
Avoid adding too much of watery waste like Banana step. I will add too much of water and will decay and smell. You can collect and dump at once as you said to reduce the timing. RIght
thanks .. i did the similar way but how to dry out the decompose bin.. even I have dru holes but still its watery inside the bucket. kindly help how to dry out the same?
It may not work with soil with this method, Why don't you use coir pith if you cannot get more dried leaves?. There are other methods where we use soil and waste to compost.
Answer please
Sir, thanks for sharing the details... Excellent information..one small request.. your voice is bit feeble with small background noise.. if that can be avoided it would be much better to listen in
Thoddam Siva thank you sir. I must admit that I am getting ready to do terrace gardening with all the basics from you. It's really an excellent tutoring.. thanks for the support. Please continue to help us move ahead
Dear Siva, I am just trying to make this using kitchen waste. But the stuff is not as good as discussed in this vedio. It is like slush. How to rectify at this stage. I am draining the water and pouring into plant pots. Please sugest.
My name is Uma, I saw your air potato plant video and I was reading about that plant in online it is not a edible potato it’s a toxic so please check before you consume. You do not have to believe me but you can check also thank you
🙂🙂🙂 It is perfectly edible one.. You can check the comment in that video. Also check sahajaseeds.in website. They are known for organic seed sellers. They also selling it. It is a common edible one. You might be referring some other tuber.
How many months you have kept that drum. It will take atleast 3-6 months for things to breakdown completely.. Try to layer the wastes in a bamboo basket using wet coco peat, the wastes will break down quickly.
Nan romba periya drum la compost paniten, ipo keezha konja thannia irku ana full compost aydchu. Thannia irkara paguthila lighta smell adikdhu. 3/4 drum fill agy irku compact a irku loose a ila.. Na 1st floor la irken so tharaila kottavum mudiadhu..Ena panradhu? : (
I have come to learn from other sources that the compost pile should generate enough heat (100°F-160°F) to be able to decompose both efficiently and fast. I'm curious if a drum like that or any decently sized bucket can provide the optimal environment for fast breakdown of organic matter.
I am not sure if that is a different process. I doubt whether this will produce that much heat. But this is the generic process even followed with terracotta kambha and I don't think it also will produce that much heat as that also will have more holes for air circulation. But in both method, the compost is coming fine.
One more point, when we go for complete waste composting including food wastes, meat wastes (bones etc), it will require that much heat to compost. Otherwise it will decay and smell will come. For such composting, wee require that much heat and usually designed in that way. But vegetable and fruit wastes easily degrade and decompose and doesn't require that level heat. So not required
