My granny and grandpa both from Greenville Mississippi. They taught me how to make dressing this way for years never changes the recipe. I'm still making it to this day. May both rest in peace. Glad I can still hold that dressing down. Great watch
I grew up in Mississippi and make my cornbread dressing similar. I’m only partially through the video. I usually bake my cornbread the day before so it can dry out slightly….and always in an iron skillet until brown. I never cook my celery and onions prior to adding them to my dressing. (Most do, but not needed) I make a large pan of dressing. The last thing I add is 2-3 beaten eggs…mix well. It makes a great crust, and it’s still moist dressing. It bakes an hour, and the veggies are always tender. I actually have made my dressing for this coming thanksgiving, and put in freezer.(unbaked). When it thaws, I’ll add the eggs before baking. My cousin freezes hers every year and it taste great.
Soak the gizzards overnight in buttermilk. It will make them very tender. I learned this by accident 😂! And since my husband likes fried gizzards, i was very pleased to serve him tender ones.😊
I really like the way you used the drippings from the turkey wings! I have to say that your explanations are right on point. And you have such a calming voice that I was able to follow the instructions easily. Thanks so much for posting this recipe. I just can't wait to make it. Happy Thanksgiving. Blessings 💕💕💕
Thanks for posting this dressing recipe with chicken gizzards and turkey necks boiled to the point of perfection to go in the dressing I’ve never made dressing before from scratch so thank you I’m hoping to be able to give it a try this thanksgiving have a wonderful holiday again thanks
An easy way to keep your pot from boiling over is before it starts to boil put oil all around the inside top of your pot it will not boil over any more even if you have it on high please give this a try in Jesus name amen 🙏🙏🙏💘
I always use 2 cups of meal, 1 cup of flour, in my pan put butter and let it melt. Add some of the butter to the batter, egg, milk stir it up and pour it in the pan to bake. After it's done add some of the corn bread and add the other ingredients to make the dressing. It really depends on how much dressing that you're making. If it's a lot then yes you add the whole pan of cornbread. I use the dripping and some meat from the cooked turkey to make my dressing, etc. I add some of the meat, drippings, and add it to make my gravy. Make a slurry and add it to the gravy to make it a little thicker, add a boiled egg, add some better than bouillon. Go from there. I appreciate how you're doing yours too.
This looks delicious. This is how I was taught by my mom (the best cook EVER!!) to make dressing. I really enjoy your vids you can really throw down in the kitchen my sistah...I love it❤
Hello Carrie, just found you at 7am today. I am enjoying you. To keep your pots from flowing over, lay a wooden spoon across the top to prevent it from doing so. Thanks for your educational videos and please keep them coming. 😊
Your right on point with the dressing, I'm a meat in the dressing cooker, I use turkey gizzards as well as chicken gizzards, n necks, my cut up ingredients, I use turkey flats to implement in my dressing, your old school I'm there with you by your steps, and I'm older, but I stick to my dressing I make for years from the older school of my mom's coming up, back in the late 50's .... Lol! I'm not a bell pepper user, and I saute my ingredients 🤷🏿♀️honey!! Your on point,!!

GIRL, GIRL, GIRL, I HAD TO SUBSCRIBE. I WISH I COULD PULL UP A CHAIR TO SHARE THAT BEAUTIFUL DRESSING WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. YOU DID AN EXCELLENT JOB, AND IT LOOKS JUST LIKE MY GRANDMOTHER'S DRESSING. I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR SHARING A TRADITIONAL RECIPE THAT NORMALLY DIES IF YOU DO NOT HANG OUT IN THE KITCHEN TO WATCH YOUR ELDERS PREPARE. THANK YOU FOR THE STEP BY STEP PROCESS. I WILL THUMBS UP AND SHARE. WHILE I AM HERE, I WILL WATCH A FEW MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS. GOD BLESS.
I never follow the corn bread recipe here is a tip for anyone eating just the cornbread add two tablespoons of sour cream and use 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and half stick of butter the flavor of the butter but the springy ness the oil brings is a great combination and always glaze your cornbread with melted butter and honey brush that on and baby u just earned your Cajun card! 😊ps and of course use buttermilk instead of regular milk add your egg then add another one for good measure 😂 add your 5 tablespoons of sugar girl u just made cornbread cake and hunty!!!!!! Foot stomping good.
Ms. Carrie, you must live in the SOUTH. This is the exact way that I watched my Mother make corn bread dressing while growing up in Florida. When I was little she would toast white bread to add until Pepperidge Farm came out with their bread crumbs. I make my dressing the same way today. Thanks for making this video.
My grandmother made dressing just like this BUT she did not put eggs in it. She boil a few eggs, slice them & lay the sliced boiled eggs around the edge just to make it look pretty.
Hey Carrie , you have a great memory for all the stuff you added to your recipe, wow. God bless your and I do enjoy watching you cook..I will be ready to eat anytime you serve it up!😊😊😊 The time here in New Jersey is 9:39pm. 👋for now✝️✝️✝️

Thanks fire sharing I will take your tips and se them the next time I make dressing i really like the tip of the adding graving and more poultry season and more meat which I normally use a lot less your dressing looks delicious Buffalo NY
From North Louisiana and that is how my Grandmother does it, but did you know the poultry seasoning can come natural, by boiling all the seasoning with the turkey necks and gizzard all together and the stock made homemade..... No cheating.....all homemade.
Haaii Miss Carrie, I was just tslking to my mom about her recipe for her cornbread dressing...I havecto ask her again. I will use yours. She hasn't cooked Thanksgiving dinner in a very long time! She would put her stuffing inside the turkey. 😊 . That looks so good!!😋😋😋💕💕
Turkey necks broth with my celery, bell peppers, onions and seasonings for my stock Corn Bread Meal Dressing.,... No breads crumbs No Jiffy No Crackers No Box just real good Dressing ♥️
Im gonna use the gizzards and turkey necks for my gravy. Im from Fort Worth, Texas and that how we always did it. I agree with boiling Turnkey parts, or even chicken for the dressing. We also use the drippings from the turkey for the dressing.
Oh thank you so much for this "old school" recipe! My son loves cornbread dressing - I tried to make it one Thanksgiving for a passing dish at his house w/ our large family now & it was just ok...But I've been searching for a REAL cornbread dressing recipe for years & just happend on yours tonight!! I can't wait to make it & surprise him!! Thank you again for sharing this wonderful video and all your knowledge of what it really takes to make this!!😊❤️
Great recipe, lot like mine, but I do use garlic and green peppers. Cook all vegetables and turkey necks and giblets makes enough for gravy. I am always afraid to much broth, your video says go for it. Next time show how it came out after baking. God blessed your family with a great cook!
You’re right I would like to see how it looks on the plate I never put gravy in my dressing and I do use bell peppers sometimes I put extra eggs I also put cream of chicken soup in my dressing you use so much poultry seasoning don’t it turn you dressing black I prefer sage and a little poultry seasoning that’s how my mom taught me I’m from Arkansas but yours look great thank for sharing your recipe!
