Snazzy keycaps, but not my thing. Kind of too bad you didn't show it in a full 104 key keyboard. Also I'm just here because I hope that eventually you'll show a keyboard that's essentially the MS Natural Ergonomic 4000, but nice and mechanical with hotswap, per-key RGB, and preferably in 3 separate pieces. Not all of us are willing to deal with a keyboard that doesn't have a numpad and dedicated Scroll Lock key.
I would love a deep-dive into your design process, inspiration, and what working with different manufacturers is like. Keycaps are my favorite part of the hobby and I feel like there's not very much information around about how they get made.
Seconded, really enjoyed Matthew Encina’s video on the design process for his custom keycaps and working with GMK. I think he’s now releasing a set with KBDfans. I’m not someone who’s likely to ever want to release a set nor am I a hugely creative type, but learning more about the design and manufacturing side of the hobby is super interesting!
I just wanted to say, thank you! After watching a bunch of your videos, and years of only having crummy cheap keyboards, I have finally taken the dive into customizing a keyboard for myself. I took inspiration from your AliExpress video (because I'm on a STRICT budget). I'm excitedly waiting for everything to arrive!
REALLY like the direction of this vid, feels more transparent somehow, seeing more of your living space, background on the process, feels more like a slice of life content mixed with keyboards. Great vid.
As a self-proclamed coffee enthusiast, I was looking for decent coffee themed keycaps to go with coffee themed deskpad. Unfortunately, I already got myself NicePBT Thai Tea set, but I'll will definitely buy this set too.
They do look nice. Having the quality of the legends and colors proper makes a big difference, I actually have 5 keyboards now after I watched your videos and 8 sets of switches. I have been eyeing key caps as my next venture. These are actually very nice.
Ok, French dude here, 5 months late and ... God I love your keycaps ! I can just hope that I will be able to order them when they're back because... you know, France is quite far x)
even tho I dont got the money for a custom keyboard I love watching your videos. I probably watched like over 80 percent of your recent videos. Thanks to you I know quite a lot about keyboards compared to my previous amateur self. If I ever get a chance I will definitely build a coffee themed setup and play coffee talk with it LoL these look and sound purrfect
SUPER nice keycap set!!! I am super glad you are getting into the making of your own keyboard accessories and I hope to buy a keyboard that you have made as well one day 😊. Keep it up!
Sooner or later Hipyo will remember that ISO layout exists (if only for a build). I have now noticed (after actually following the links) that the set includes ISO keys... and every other key you could possibly want. Very thorough, i'll give them that.
Would LOVE an indepth look the keycap dev!! :D Also, crazy timing too because I attempted a coffee-themed build with the new QK65v2 Classic Champagne colour. The Neo80 in Champagne could be a gorgeous golden/bronze colour to show off these keycaps on a larger build TKL build 🥰 I wasn't able to get coffee-themed switches in time for my build, but my choice might be the budget-friendly HMX Macchiatos! and apparently Alexoto's fave HMX switch too ☺
The color scheme and images are great. If it was in a profile I like, with big centered labels, it'd be tempting. (profiles with spherical scoops instead of cylindrical, like DSA and MT3)
Omg my first keyboard is literally your plant key caps, the iced latte switches and the zoom 98! It sounds ✨ HEAVENLY✨ Now everyone is jealous and I've sent them to your videos to find one of their own. My girlfriend just bought the Epomaker Leobog keyboard from your video!
love your videos, LOVE them, and i havent watched the whole video yet but i really wanted to comment and say "I have that exact same IKEA couch". I hope i can order those keycaps soon.
dude i just saw these keycaps because first i saw the GMK Tiramisu set and was like "wow" ok that looks cool but then realized its ABS. then i went to look for brown or coffee themed keycaps and found these. I decided to go with them and then i noticed they were designed by you haha.
You went with "Super"? Man, I've been waiting for a "Hyper" in a keycaps set for ages! "Meta" is pretty rare, but I've seen it and have a set with it (although it's not a great set). I'd snap up a "Hyper" set (which, given the coffee theme, would actually make a lot of sense). Still, it's a pretty nice set. The color palette is very nice to look at.
Saw these keycaps in person at the Studio Keebli UCSD event and they are GORGEOUS Also it was a great experience meeting you at the event I was star struck to say the least-
I would love a deep dive into making the keycaps. An hour long vid would be amazing. I've recently gotten my wife into mech keyboards and she want's to use her die sub cricut stuff to make one off keycap sets. Have you seen similar to her idea?
I am probably not the target demo for these keycaps (i do not like coffee) but i am the target demographic for nerdy rants about product development, plastic moudling and budgetting and ways to make it manageable. And even though im not interested in coffeee i have to admit this keyboard is CUTE
I subscribed because you are amusing, but I originally found your channel because of the crazy keyboard mod videos you used to do. Only been in the hobby about a year & I already have 8 keyboards (but disappointingly none of them have actually needed to be modded).
Ugghhhhh When are these going to come back in stock!!! I just finished my entry build and currently I am utilizing the Drop DCX Latte set but it just isn't the right color combo to go with this gorgeous coffee shop desk matt that you created (currently on display on my workstation).
Those look so great, just tried my first dye sub pbt this past week and I definitely prefer them. Also a weird recommendation of a keyboard to try out is the Redragon Eisa. It is pretty cheap and is actually very good despite what I usually thought about the brand when I last tried them.
UGGHHHHH Every single time I make a purchase Hipyo tells me something better is out the day after I get it. I bought a keychron V2 the next days he tells me there's a better custom keyboard on a budget that is metal and sounds better. I just bought some nice PBT keycaps that showed up yesterday and I really like and now I got more buyers remorse. I just can't keep up with this hobby. There's always something new out.
I'm still pretty new to the keyboarding hobby, and I've learned a lot from your videos (thank you btw!); but, I would love to hear about/see a video on the keycap design process.
I love your keycaps, As a proud filipino, I adore coffee more than any beverages, but sadly 3 in 1 coffees is all than i can afford rn, but with great ambition, im gonna build myself a custom keyboard someday!!!
I would have bought these if I had a mechanical keyboard and you had a nordic-se layout but for now I love my membrane it sounds so perfect in my ears and has gained sentimental value over the years, going from a cheap keyboard I bought because I needed one to a keyboard I NEED to replace(missing space keycap so I put the home button there instead, fn not working and one other hey not working) but so don't want to replace.
Looks freaking great! And awesome that you made the base kit so comprehensive - as a filthy Nordic ISO user, i probably won't be able to important these without hefty toll and "handling" fees, but do you have any plans for possible international kits? On another note, during the design process, did you ever look in to and consider different profiles other than cherry?
As someone trying to get into customizing keyboards for the first time, I am finding keycaps are the most confusing things to find. Seems like no one uses the same descriptions for keyboards and then some websites don't sell things in a full-set so it makes it hard to find stuff that all works together (especially because I need a full 100% set). It's almost cheaper for me to design my own set and order custom. Which is frustrating. Would like a video explaining how to shop for keycaps.
yes!!! The keycaps look incredible, congrats. I’d love a full deep dive into the software you used and design side of your process. I want to design my own set one day. Does the set come with Mac modifiers?
I actually really love this keycap set and would like to buy, but I'm just a bit too much of a broke boi. Only just got an Aula F75 and I'm gonna be sticking with the stock keys for a while. Really awesome work though!
great vid and i love ur coffee keycaps.i also got a question i have a problem with my stabs it got this weird problem when i half press it and spam it, it gets significantly heavier to press i just installed durock plate mounted stabs and lubing makes it worse plz help (Only asking it on yt coz reddit is apparently useless) Edit: No my spacebar is not warped
I get the reasons why not to - but would be really good to have more options for a /FULL/ UK ISO layout - Maybe a bit OCD but I can't cope with not having the right modifier legends on [2/"], [3/£], ['/@] etc.... I ended up going with a cheap (£22) GMK knock off set and they're fine, but I'm wondering if more premium caps would have a better (slightly deeper) sound. Just completed my first build with a purple Monsgeek M1 ISO and I'm in love with it... although kinda want some backlit caps (I'm sorry!) as it's hard to find some keys in a dimly lit room :)
