Thanks. Very helpful tutorial. I used it for my google sheet for kids pocket money and monthly expenses and it worked great. Only issue I can't leave a cell blank and have to put zero if nothing else otherwise the formula breaks and starts again. But that's no big deal as there are just a few entries every month and I can easily add zeros manually to empty debit or credit fields.

Many many thanks for your prompt reply. Please tell me what the formula will be if I connect the 'credit' (E5) instead of the 'description' (C4) and get serial numbers as and when only a credit entry is entered? I want to know how many EMIs I have paid by seeing only the last serial number against the last credit entry.
