Thank you! I have looked everywhere for one of these (had one a long time ago) but this is better! I can use fabric for my favorite football team and everybody will say "Where did you get that?"
Great tutorial! I saw an accessory like this advertised on Facebook. Being the creative person I am, I made a wonky version of it myself out of a scrap of dark brown fabric. It works fine and makes a neat bun but I'm glad to find precise instructions, since I was just "winging" it. I would love to make some pretty like this!
Thanks Lola! Yes someone else mentioned an ad. To be honest, I did not even know these existed 2 weeks ago. There was a post asking how to sew them. After making about 20 samples I came up with this sizing and method so there wouldn’t be any long buttonhole in the middle . I will be posting another easier method for beginners soon too. Thanks for watching and please check out some of my other videos.
@@joleneatolondrado174 If you go through her instruction it says 19 gauge wire. Craft wire and wire you can get in the hardware store is basically the same but the hardware store is cheaper. I've found it in the area they sell picture hanging supplies in both Lowes and Home Depot. Hope this helps :)
Absolutely stunning, cannot thank you enough. I have paid a fortune out for these over many years, I can not only make for myself but for my only granddaughter too now. Your tutorial was so clear and precise, you really are an amazing tutor. I will recommend you to my church craft group, godbless you and your amazing abilities seeing will be so much more fun now. Xx
You are welcome 😊. Please watch my other video with different method to make this. It has a buttonhole in the centre. You may like that too. I am working on a third method to make this and will upload soon. Please share and have a look at some of my other videos. Cheers!
So glad to find this tutorial!!! My daughter, granddaughter, and I saw these on a site to buy and were only going to get one and then use it for a pattern, but this is going to be much much easier!! and cheaper too. Thank you!!!
You are so welcome! Glad you find it helpful. Please have a look at my 2 other tutorials with different methods to make these on my channel. I also have very easy methods to make scrunchies. Have fun sewing!😊
I am a EMT I going to make this with a color that match my uniform it’s great to keep your hair in place while working also with style. Thank you for your tutorial
That’s a great work that you are doing Alessandra! Yes you will look stylish for sure. You may want to tie your hair in a ponytail first and then roll for extra security having it up all day . I am also adding an easier beginner video for this in next few days. Thanks for watching!🙏😊
I still like you’re how to make items. You have got to be the best that I have seen so far. I like how you explain it, I wish other people that have wonderful post on how to make, and crafting would you like you And explain it out in words. I like your post a lot as far as I can see it’s the best, and I have looked at a lot of them. Thank You So Much! 🥰 👍
Oh my! I have been looking for these but they are a little pricey ! Now I can make them easily. Can’t wait to do one to match my self-made handbag for a very special event! Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching. It took me quite a while to come up with this method so there wouldn’t be a buttonhole or plain cut in the middle. I hope you like it. Please share and check out some of my other videos. I have a few showing the easiest way to make scrunchies. Have a great weekend!😊
Excellent tutorial! So concise and none of the blabbering that a lot of other RU-vid tutorials have. This will be a fun thing to make for Christmas. Thank you! PS…love your basic sewing machine. No metric seam allowance guide, like it.
Well done, definitely one of the best tutorial I’ve watched. The video and instructions were excellent and easy to follow. Looking forward to seeing more.
Awesome, thank you! I will also be adding a beginner method for this soon. Please share and check out some of my other videos. I think you will like my scrunchie and wire headband methods. Cheers!
I'm so glad I came across this video on how to make this hair bow. It is absolutely so handy to learn on how to make it.. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for the tutorial. I tried with aluminium wire but after a few times trying to test it on my hair, the wire broken. Would you please give me some advices about the kind of wire for this project?
what gauge wire are you using? The wire I used was 19 gauge. You can use heavier like 16 gauge but harder to bend. Please also have a look at the other methods I have to make these on my channel. Cheers!
This is brilliant! I was going to purchase one of these bun makers and just knew someone had the smarts to make them - and you did! And now I can - so easy! I have tons of material left over from mask-making these last 2 years so I'll be busy making these. Thank you so much - you are a consummate professional!
Thanks Luann. Please have a look at my 2 other tutorials with different methods to make these. I will also be uploading my new tea towel designs later today. They are a great way to use up your scraps as well. Cheers!
Thanks Melinda. All these steps are so that there are clean seams both on inside and outer edge. Please have a look at my other video with different method to make this with a buttonhole in the centre. You may find that easier. Cheers!
That was so cool! Thank you so much! I've been sewing for several years now, creating my own patterns and designing my clothes, but I learned a few new tricks today! Again thanks! :-D Greetings from Germany
Guten Tag!! ( that’s all I remember from Hight School German😃). Thanks so much for watching. I have another video with different method to make with a buttonhole in the centre. I will have 2 more methods soon. Please share and have a look at my other videos. Cheers!
@@NotchesSewing haha, awesome! That's all you need to know really, most Germans are very eager to speak English right away. ;-) I'll have a look into the other videos, thanks! Have a great day!
I just made this... don’t use pipe cleaners as the wire like I just did, they aren’t strong enough to hold the hair, lol. 😂 cool project though... 👍🏻. Once I go to the store and buy real wire, I can try making this again.
Oh no! Well now you’ve done a test run so you know how to make even faster. How did you find my instructions? Clear enough? Thanks for watching. You can find link for wire in my video description. Have a great weekend!🙏😊
Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. I’ll be uploading a wired headband tonight. My method is really clean and neat for the wire inside. Be sure to turn on all notifications.🙏
Absolutely great video and everything I need to know in your instructions and WOW quick links to play just a portion of the vid. Excellent tutorial! I’m subscribed! Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment. Please have a look at the other version I have for this item. Different method to sew with a buttonhole in the centre. You may like that too. please share and have a look at some of my other videos. More to come! Cheers.
Your profile picture looks like it's long enough to twist up.🙂They do make great gifts! Please have a look at my other video with different method to make with buttonhole in the middle. I am working on a third method too. Please share and check out my other videos. Have a great day! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this great tutorial - I am going to make some of these for a Christmas Craft-fair - Do you have an idea of what they might sell for? thanks again!
Sorry Barbara I'm not sure what they would sell for at craft fair but you can find them online and on Amazon. I actually have never owned one that was store bought. I created this video for a Facebook member that asked for help. You can test out with different sizing and also heavier gauge wire if you need but you can see how it holds my hair and I have also tested on someone with lots of long curly hair and it was fine. Thanks for watching. Please share and check out some of my other videos. I have a few about scrunchies. You may also want to sell those too if you aren't already. All the best!
I am so amazed I found this tutorial, new sub here! I saw these on another You Tubers vlog, already made, and paid 25.00 plus shipping for it! I'ts made of nice short nap velvet and in different hair colors, but my gosh, I paid a fortune. Cannot wait to make some with my scraps! Thank you
Wow, thank you! That is very kind of you to say. I am really happy to hear that as that is what I strive for. I'm hoping everyone will understand it. Please share and have a look at some of my other videos. Cheers!
Oooh I have to try this! I wear my hair up a lot and this would be awesome to have, not only for myself but I think it would also make a great craft fair item! Thanks so much for sharing this!!
Loved the video, I am looking forward to making these. Just a quick tip, when cutting towards a seam, insert a pin along the seam to stop the scissors going through the seam.
Thanks for watching June and commenting. I would only caution to use seam rippers when using pin as stopper just in case the scissors accidentally hits the pin and becomes damaged.
I just made one and it turned out great, thanks. But I can’t get it to look like yours when it’s in my hair. It just hangs down and looks ridiculous. 😫
Oh no! How long is your hair? Twist once slide down at least halfway down your hair and slowly roll it so the ends disappear into the rest of your hair. Twist one turn at a time. It may take a few times to get it neat. A few ends sticking out is ok and kinda cute anyway.🙏👍. Thanks for watching.😊
Please watch my other video to make this with a different sewing method and buttonhole in the centre. You may like that too. Thanks for watching. Please share and have a look at my at some of my other videos for more sewing tricks and tips. More to come. Cheers!
Thanks for that. When I created this video there was nothing online that was very detailed or had a clean method sewing it. Unfortunately my video has been copied numerous times…… Please also check out my two other methods to make these. Cheers!
Acclamations!
Thanks 😊. Please watch my other video with different method to make this. It has a buttonhole in the centre. You may like that too. I am working on a third method to make this and will upload soon. Please share and have a look at some of my other videos. Cheers!
Thank you for the tutorial! I saw the ad on FB and thought I could make it but having instructions makes it much easier. I saw you said "craft" wire but craft wire and wire you can get in the hardware store is basically the same and the hardware store is cheaper with no waiting for delivery. I've found it in the area they sell picture hanging supplies in both Lowes and Home Depot. I discovered this when I had trouble finding craft wire for some bead projects. :)
Hi Maureen, I also paved the tutorial and I made one but I used aluminium wire and after just a few twist the wire broken, thanks for your comment about the wire, I will try to find it and make another one.
I like so many aspects of your tutorial Two things that would help are an indication of the thickness (gauge) of the wire and a printable for instructions on how to use the hair tie for gifting to other people.
@@NotchesSewing Thanks again for a really quick response. I am making stocking stuffers for a local charity and felt that instructions would be helpful for using this specific item. I will make my "How to use" handouts.
Great to hear! You’re so welcomed. I originally came up with this method. If you look at the dates, my video was the first one. I did not invent this as bun makers have been around for a long time but came up with this sewing method as I was asked how could one sew this without a buttonhole opening in the middle. I spent two weeks after work and many samples til got this. The copycat videos came out within days, Some creators even used my thumbnail and parts of my actual video in their own. There’s also lots of thumbnails with red or pink polka dot fabric too.... Sorry for the rant. I appreciate your kind words. Have a look at my other video to make this as you may like that too. I will have a third method soon. Cheers!
I ordered these on-line and they took forever to get here. After watching you make these and I see how simple it was I could have made them myself! ARRRR!!! Thanks for sharing your talent
Glad you like them! I also have another video to make them with a buttonhole in the centre. You may like that too. I will have a third method soon. Have a great day!
Glad it was helpful! I will posting another easier video for beginners soon so that may help with your production. Please also have a look at my wired headband and scrunchies business video. I think you will really like my methods for those too. Thanks so much for watching. Please share and have a look at my other videos, 😊🙏
Sure, you can make any size you like. Maybe add an inch to each end cutting it 17inches long and use a stronger wire. I did test it out on a girl with long curly hair to her waist and it held. Have you made one already?
....... Gracias por intentarlo de todos modos.
I was looking for a this kind of tutorial. Very nice. Very pretty. I am so happy I found you you explain every step with all the details. Thank you very much
