I spike my hair up every day in the same shape as Vegetas and have always felt like I've been missing something, and now that I know what it is, and thanks to you and this video I shall venture forth to forge my own Saiyan Armor!! Rock on dude!! \m/
This is so cool!!! This is going to be very handy for making armor similar to Bardock's, the training suits, and other types! I just need to figure out how to make shoulder pauldrons and leg guards... AWESOME video!
+Let's Make Stuff just letting you know I'm working on making a dragonballz saiyan armor for comicon, if it comes out right I'm definitely broadcasting your page for you when I go
I love this. Just got the foam, now to find the clips. Hopefully i can get this done in time for Halloween. For those struggling to find materials, get the interlocking foam mat from Sears for not even $20. You can double stack or shave down to get the right size. Looking forward for more cool stuff!
+Let's Make Stuff Do you do requests. If so I'd like to request saiyan armour with the shoulder cups and lower waist part. I'll link a picture. bk-81.deviantart.com/art/Saiyan-warrior-Gohan-113859902
+Let's Make Stuff I also added the shoulder pieces to look like Old Module Saiyan Armour using the tick foam pieces with the thick foam round trim. Thanks once again for this! Keep Making Stuff!
Awesome work, looks like a good heavy shield at the end. You are so good in the editing, camera angles and narration to make one keep the interest even if you have absolutely no idea what you are making lol :P
I think the armor would look cooler if it had a trench coat over it, or maybe a Nappa coloring of it with a trench coat, I think that would be awesome. ^^
You are truly amazing man. I am really looking forward to your future work. And i will attempt to make this armor as well as soon as i have some free time :D
Now, how to make the Saiyan saga Saiyan armor? (Thank you much for this. Ive been thinking about building costumes for fun and this looks like a good place to start)
This video is awesome, and I plan to try it out. But where do you buy the EVA foam from? Is it a craft store purchase, or more along the lines of a hardware store. And how thick is the foam? If it matters. Thank you!
Thank you very much for this tutorial, I'm in the final stages of my Bardock armor. What was the brown glue you used on the clips? I'm using a glue gun, 3m plastic and emblem adhesive & RTV silicone.
4 years after this was uploaded, I tried making my own for Halloween for a school contest, last year. Well, either I’m horrible at arts and crafts or it was cause I only had one night to do, but mine didn’t come out any like in the vid lol. The straps kept detaching, the peck muscles of the armor were different sizes, the abdomen area was lip sided and it was off set when I put it on. Now that I think about it, I also didn’t use a sketch like in the video. Lol
That was the very first DBZ chest piece I ever made. Definitely would do it differently if I had to make today I might need to upload a version 2 at some point. I would use the same template it would just be a more efficient process
Very nice , I'm going to try and make a similar one but for Bardock ( Basically the same , just different colours I guess). Quick question , there is probably no way around using a heat gun or a blow torch ? I'm having doubts for buying one , because I've never tried this before. Do you just hold it into place (the armour) and reshape it with the heat gun ? Or is it safer to use a model puppet torso ? I really have no clue. Thanks for sharing this video though , awesome!
matsspringuel777 you don't need to use a heat gun or blow torch it just makes it a little easier when gluing it together. If you don't have one thats fine just give it a good bend to give it the right shape.
I am trying my best to do this. I am getting lost at the stomach plate part. I cut out the stomach on the main piece and remake it on another? Then, same for the chest basically? Sorry to be confused, but I really want to get this right.
Awesome Video! Thank you very much for this tutorial! How thick should the thin foam and the thick EVA foam be? What do you suggest? Thank you very much again for your help!
Victor Garcia Hi Victor, the foam I used was about 1cm thick or half an inch however you could get away with using slightly thicker foam it just take a little more effort to bend it.
Y'know...I honestly might consider taking this up as a hobby. My brother in law likes to build his own computers and guns - he basically spends a lot of time and money gathering the necessary tools and equipment. He recommended I get into something. I'm not really financially sound enough to take this on; but if I give it some time, going very slowly...who knows. Let's Make Stuff It's my pleasure to say so. Do you think that you could also make a set that includes the long shoulder pads; or maybe the one Vegeta used during the fight with Frieza - the one that is like what you made but doesn't quite have the yellow straps?
