This tutorial shows how to build a web slinger or spiderweb machine to use on props for movies, theater or simply for Halloween to impress your visitors.
Parts for this build are available at most hardware stores or airconditioning suppliers. No special tools are needed. Building time is much less than an hour!
The effect looks very realistic, the webs act like real spider or cob webs even when ripped off.
What you need:
1x 8-10 inch metal fanblade (found in airconditioning units)
1x 1/4 inch threaded rod (about 5 inches long
2x 1/4 inch washers
1x 1/4 inch wingnut
2x 1/4 inch locknut
1 jar of rubber cement
1 can with lid that can be opend even the rubber cement has dried out
some acetone for cleaning
Warning:
This machine can be dangerous when handled the wrong way!
The spider webs may stick to props and clothes!
Do not swallow Rubber Cement!

All the Disney webs are made from hot glue exclusively, they need them to last decades, not just a couple of seasons.

After you spin the webs you can powder them with baby powder. They really look awesome and they seem to last much longer as well.

This is cool, I used to sell these to the Halloween community, they work very well but you need a drill capable of 1800+ rpms for it to work correctly, I found a variable speed drill works best. I also recommended adding a little turpentine to the liquid glue to thin it out a little for better flow

Super cool idea, thanks for making this. On a critical note, your music cuts in at an absurdly high level, maybe you could turn it down? Its obnoxious. Also if possible get a shot gun or lav mic for recording your voice, the hollow sound of your voice mixed with the over the top stock music blaring is a horrible combination. But otherwise you make great tutorials, I hate to see sound ruin it. Thanks again

Hi and thanks. Quick question. Since it's been a while since you posted this, have you found a better medium than rubber cement. I have alot of candles and am kinda worried about going "poof"

Good video but your music is very annoying and too loud.

To find the centerpoint, all you have to do is draw a "X" Boom done.
