This is what I've been missing in F4. Every time I play it, I'm thinking: I miss the atmosphere from Fallout Tactics where settlements looked like armed to the teeth fortresses made out of every scrap there could be found and where the wandering in the outland made you squeeze your butt cheeks as hard as you could so you don't shit yourself once more when you see what's running towards you out of the fog/dust.

the immersive drumlin diner mod reminds me of the 'Bethesda NEVER Understood Fallout' video by Shamus Young. the world really doesnt look like one would think it would hundreds of years after nukes destroyed the world and bethesda just thinks fallout is 50s themed post-apocalypse game

I've always thought how interesting it is that normal players can mod a game to make it much more immersive and fun to play than what the original developers come up with. It frustrates me at the same time too because this is the kind of stuff the developers should be making for the game and they aren't. Modders could literally come together and make better games than what the major game developers are coming up with.

I don't know, if adding more decay 200 years after the bombs dropped is more immersive. I mean, it's the same timespan as between now and 1819. I think, they would either repaired a lot more than in the vanilla game (or at least would get rid of the wreckages and corpses), or the area would be totally overgrown without propper maintenance.
