The best way to make feta cheese at home, is with lemon and yogurt, she made with vinegar and in the end she did not washed with cold clean water, to take the bad vinegar smell also kills the bacteria with salt. Like this the feta cheese creates worms

Hi Hedyeh, Thank you so much for this recipe. I have been looking for a Iranian Feta recipe for quite a long time and I am glad you shared your video. I had to modify the quantity a little as I used 1800g of milk and 80 g of greek yogurt. Therefore I changed to 1/4 cup of cider vinegar and 1/2 lemon. it is resting now. I see you keep it after in the brine in the fridge. Do you think I could keep it in oil (half olive and half colza) ? with herbs ?

Do you use all the liquid for storage please? or do you have any left over and if so, can you use it as liquid for bread making? Couple quick questions please as I'm going to try this out. 1- how long does it take for the cheese to gain that typical feta salty flavor all threw the cheese in the salty brine? 2- how long once it's all completed is this healthy in the frodge?
@hedyehskitchen7559
@hedyehskitchen7559 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! 🙏 ❤️ I didn't put much salt in it because I don't like it that salty but more salt added to the liquid, longer you can store it for. I use up to 7-10 days. and I would say leave it in the salt water in the fridge for at least 6 hours to soak all that salt water. I have never added salt while boiling, maybe that could be a thing too if you want it very salty! Sorry hope that was helpful. 😊

Love the easiness of this recipe. I’m wondering if white vinegar could be used instead of apple cider vinegar….?

Thanks for watching! 🙏 ❤️ I have never done it but google says you can! maybe have some apple cider vinegar on the side, if it doesn't start to mass you can use it but should be fine. 😊 Let me know the result if you do use white vinegar!

Can i make creamy feta dressing for my salad with it??
@hedyehskitchen7559
@hedyehskitchen7559 Год назад
Hi There, sorry I don't know the answer to that but I do put it on my salad. To make it creamier I can suggest not to wrap it very hard so the cheese could be a bit looser.

Hey its almost like paneer.... But 1 Q.... How to store it.. Means shall we store it with the liquid only in the fridge? Means the cheese will remain immersed in that salty water in the fridge till it is all used up? Or shall we discard the water...?
@hedyehskitchen7559
@hedyehskitchen7559 2 года назад
I have heard that it is also like paneer. This recipe was introduced to me by my mom and her cousins, we are from north of Iran, Gorgan, I believe the cheese Paneer you're referring to is Indian, however Cheese in farsi is called Paneer! and more salt you put in it more time you can store it and yes it has to be in the salty water the whole time. I usually keep it for 1 week to 10 days! you'll notice it's going bad when it start getting smelly! I hope that answered all your questions, Thank you!

How long will it last ? What would be the expiry date of cheese in this water?

Sorry for a looooooooooong delay, probably got your answer but I use it for 7-10 days, more salt, longer you can store it.

LOL, Yes and because I had to adjust my camera higher so that my phone wouldn't heat up and die in the middle of my taping and I frequently had to climb the chair, put my foot on the counter for stability and check if my phone was still recording and somehow I forgot to cut that out! This was the third time taping the video due to phone heat up! I'm learning haha and thanks for watching!
