I don't pour my own jigs, but I did order a bunch of skirtless jigs with some silicone and old school flat rubber from lurepartsonline and hand-tied my own jigs with thread over the winter. I haven't gotten a chance to use any of them yet, our season doesnt open until May up here in Canada, but I'm excited. I also made some chatterbaits and hand-tied those with a mix of silicone and old school flat rubber too. I found it a great way to keep my fishing hobby going, even if I couldnt get out and actually fish.
I've been tying my own jigs since around 1994. I learned from an older guy in his 60's. He always told me to use wire and never use the cheap collars. I use Living Rubber as a base and Easy Kasting silicone tabs. You throw in places that you usually don't because you save money making your own. Great video!
Great video. I loved to try some of those awesome swim jig colors. The orange and red look fire. I just started fishing last year and my go to is the Texas rig, but would love to try swim jigging.
Great video! After watching you and Dizzle last year, I decided I needed to up my jig game. I lose a ton so I started buying premade jig heads and skirts to try and offset the cost/ losses and make something myself. Hand tying is next! Wouldn't mind trying a few of you patterns myself, but would love to see you make some punch weights and do something this year on punching thick stuff - something that intimidates most bank fisherman.
Thanks for sharing!! I cast bullets for my reloading ammo, so I am familiar with casting. I want to get into casting jigs and this was very helpful!!! I would love to try them!! I like the copper mine and the green pumpkin. Again thanks for sharing!! Juddie - J & J TOA
Those jigs look awesome!! I'd love to get a few of those in my tackle box. I picked up a bunch of 3/8 War Eagle jigs and have been waiting to get a few 5/16 on hand as well. I can't wait to see what Double D(Debo and Dizzle) can come up with. Double D Jigs has a nice ring to it. Lol All thats left now is some soft plastics. Another great video!
*Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.*
I know I do not speak for everyone but I love seeing a DIY for everything. Making Jigs always interested me. This just solidifies it. Instead of buying 2 and 3 jigs at the store for $15 you can make them for $0.75 ish depending on how intricate you want to get. all I can say is that this is going on my Christmas List this year.
Total respect to those folks that create and sell hand-tied jigs...lots of time goes into each, and it's an art. I enjoy buying mine from some smaller businesses, might be a bit more expensive but totally worth it. Can't wait to buy some Debo Jigs!
Hey Debo, send some of those jigs to me here in South Carolina and let me see if they work well down here! I love your videos, keep up the great work!!
Yes I want some of your jigs, I’m be to them for I’ve always been intimidated by trying them. I’ve watch so many videos on them and knowing what to use and when perplexes me! Loved this video
Great job Debo. I just bought a variety of jig heads and skirts at my local BPS to play with on my own. Then BAM, You go a throw a make your own jig with a mold vid at me. I can see a whole new world of opportunity there. 👍🏻
Debo, love the hand tied jig how too!!! So many different colors. The options are endless. Would love to toss a few Debo jigs!!! Thanks for another great vid!!!👊
Just started tying my own jigs a few months ago Debo! Try 24 gauge floral wire, it’s smaller and a matte dark green color so no flashy silver on those jigs. Also, I find it easier to tie the skirts while they are in the vise. Choose your bottom tabs and lay them across your wire loop then pull the wire loop onto the bottom of the jighead in the vise, loop once to secure the tabs the lay the top tab over and continue to loop to secure it. Either way yours look very nice!
That black and purple and orange and red look awesome. I bet the feesh will eat those up! The green pumpkin with pearlescent blue looked SUPER cool as well. You definitely have a real talent, from painting crank baits to making finesse jigs. Great stuff bud👍🏼👍🏼
Could you do a video on how to fish jigs and finesse jigs. I've been fishing for almost a year now and understand some lures but dont understand jigs. Thanks for the awesome content, you've taught me a bunch man, much love. 👏👏
"Ruht beer". This weedguard "deal" Lol gotta love the Midwest and DEBO. Excellent craftsmanship on the finesse jigs Never really thrown a lot of jigs but I'm hopin to get some confidence in em this spring.
Great video Debo!! I’ve never seen the effort that goes into jig making and to be honest seeing it all really makes me want to try and do it as a challenge to myself. Love variety of fishing content. Keep up the great work!!
I've been "making" jigs since last year. I don't have the jig mold, but I take jigs and add my skirts. It's nice to add your own touch and also make jig colors that are not in stock. I buy 6th sense swim jigs and use them. It's always fun catching fish on the colors you make and I love me some crazy colors. Lol.
I gotta say thanks for putting me on the finesse jig game bro. I caught a 6 almost a 7 pounder this morning on a bitsy bug with a rage menace trailer. From dinks to giants I've caught alot of fish on them and that's thanks to you. I haven't seen anyone around here throwing a jig so I think the fish bite it because it's something they haven't seen. Cheers bro
enjoyed your video !! thanks for sharing I'm seriously thinking about making jigs !! way back in the day dad had a fly tying kit and i made a few flies .... i found it relaxing and fun at 10 yrs old ,,, at 57 I really need something to chill and relax while making something useful for myself and possibly for fellow friends ..... Thanks again !! would like to learn more about the painting side of the jig heads
Dude I am a huge jig fisher and would love to get some of your homemade jigs!! I've really been debating in getting into making my own but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. They look amazing though man! Keep up the awesome work!
That red and orange is a must have! Great work Debo from the Illinois side. My buddy and I went fishing yesterday and got our first catches of the year. Love these videos, and your channel. Fish on🤘 🎣
Debo, I've found when using the wire, laying it on a flat surface and then layering the skirt material and jig, helps to make the wrapping easier. Also, the fly vise is a great tool to assist in tying. One thing I do, is use a band/o-ring/rubber band to get the skirts in place and use a bobbin to tie with thread. I've found that thread is easier on rubber and silicone and less prone to cutting it... not to mention, no sharp ends. Keep on keeping on my dude. 🐟👊
I polish probably 6000+ lead 1x1x.032 specimens a year at my job. ive never been more paranoid about lead in my life than when I'm watching debos jig making videos. maybe I been f'in up bad xD. great videos as always debo!
Hey debo love ur channel cause my 11 yr old and I are new bass angler's and I think u do great at explaining tips techniques how to and all. Great detail and good luck this year. The jigs look great.
I’m not there yet, but starting to gain confidence in the jig. I finally gained confidence in the chatterbait after this weekend, so I’m getting close. Changing to the right rod helped a ton already. . . I like those hooks a lot. They are lighter than the heavy hooks, but still a decent sized shank. Can’t wait for a Debo lure website!
These DIY videos are awesome! Making those jigs looks like a ton of fun! Thanks for stepping thru the whole process! Send some of those jigs down here to Texas!!
That's pretty awesome you can throw them jigs real careless you don't have to worry about buying them you just make some up. They look really freaking awesome 👊
i do hand tied and premade skirts.... good vibrant purple skirts were hard to find back when i bought my materials, so i made my own. i also enjoy fly tying so i have a bunch of different materials for jigs.
This video is awesome. It def makes me want to support small businesses. I would love to have some of those. I use them all the time. Your jigs look awesome as well!!
That's super cool! I've been playing around with jigs a little bit, but I'm brand new to bass fishing in general. There's so many great options! Haven't landed any yet, but spring has sprung here in the PNW so hopefully that luck will change. Stay safe Stay awesome!
Hey Debo, I have been a huge fan of using the good ol' texas rig craw for a long time and just now started using a few jigs here and there and I think I can finally say I am in love with jigs! It would be so cool if I could try out a few of your favorite colors and become more confident in jigging. Great video man!
My pal and subscribed feeshin friend (Shawn Beck) could certainly use some of those jigs. He keeps saying he’s going to try throwing a jig but ultimately goes to his comfort zone of crank and spinner baits. I think it has alot to do with the fact that he’s most certainly going to lose a few here and there. I was surprised by the root beer color. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting but turned out to be my favorite.
3/32" heat shrink tubing over the hook eye will save you a lot of grief with the powder paint in the hook eyes. Remove before curing the paint. Good video Debo. Thanks.
