2:37 to make it easier, its literally just your waist measurement divided by 6.284. Thats all you need. You're welcome

*Full Instructions* _You will need:_ ( 1:06 ) Waist measurement Length you want the skirt to be ( 1:19 ) Pattern Master Marker pen Scissors Tape measure Pattern paper Long ruler _Useful definitions:_ ( 1:34 ) Circumference: the enclosing boundary of a curved geometric figure, especially a *circle* Radius: Straight line from the centre to the *circumference* of a circle or sphere [diagram on screen] _Calculating the radius of your waist:_ ( 1:58 ) Waist measurement/6.284 = radius of waist _Method:_ 1. ( 2:46 ) Lay out (enough) pattern paper, folded in half 2. ( 3:11 ) Fold paper in half again, so it’s in quarters. Make sure the edges are as straight as possible 3. ( 3:21 ) Mark the radius along the edge of the *folded* corner, not the open corner. Mark it at the edge, the middle, and the last edge, so it’s a curve. You might want to see the demonstration for some of these 4. ( 3:48 ) Connect the dots so it’s a smooth curve, but with a straight edge at the very end. Label this as your waistline 5. ( 4:20 ) Mark the skirt length the same way you marked the waist measurement, but with more dots in between (ie not just edge, centre, edge). 6. ( 4:48 )Connect the dots, with the straight final edge, and label 7. ( 5:26 ) Mark your seam allowance for both the waist and the hem 8. ( 5:51 ) Cut out the smaller waist circle and then the full length of the skirt 9. ( 6:09 ) Open it to double check that it looks right and the waist is correct 10. ( 6:22 ) Spread it out completely. You can throw away the corner that you cut out. You now have your pattern piece 11. ( 6:37 ) This pattern, if cut correctly on the fold, only needs a piece of elastic sewn at the waist. If you would like to add a zip, cut up the circle from the outer circumference to the waist and measure seam allowance for a zip. Visual at ( 6:55 ) 12. ( 6:48 ) Adding your waistband. Cut a strip of pattern paper the length of your waist measurement and whatever width you would like it to be 13. ( 7:04 ) If you want to box-pleat your skirt (images at 7:06 ) you have to cut the pattern open. This needs a whole new video however (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3I-TLlkM4QM.html) 14. ( 7:23 ) Outro. This pattern can be used for flounced/flared sleeves or trousers, long maxi skirts, something fun with tulle, etc etc. It is in general very versatile 15. All along many videos I have not been able understand it until I have turned on into yours. You have shown there many different styles one could create using this pattern these are so helpful especially to me. I do love the make up and I like the eye shadow you apply on, you look lovely with the soft features that you have. My hobby is sewing I do enjoy it when the finished product fit me nicely. I am onto my sewing pattern of my dress with circular sleeve and half circular skirt, will follow up from your teaching. Thanks for your time and I do appreciated very much. ht

Thank you! I’ve just started sewing clothes. I’ve always “winged” things in the past for my kids & so every other type of art, crafting, diy, refurbishing, house repairs, etc that you can think of. Since my kids are grown & I’ve been super artsy-fartsy lately, I’ve decided to start sewing. I mean, I have a machine. I know I can do this! My first project is a Mardi Gras cape for us. We live in New Orleans and are always trying to “out do” the year prior, so this year is capes! I figured a circle skirt would be a great start for a cape. We didn’t want Superman capes. We want something that goes around & can fling behind, if desire. Finger crossed!! Your video helped me so much. And I understood ALL of it!

Thank you so much for this!! :D I am currently on my way to find a large enough area of floor space and a measuring tape to make this pattern right now, though I may have to use newspaper for mine as I don't have drafting paper lol XD but hey, if it works, it works, all you need is a pattern to cut your fabric with after all :)

I usually love your tutorials but "if you do a little multiplications/ division" without explaining was confusing. For everyone lost do 30 ÷ 6.28= 4.77 round up 4.78

aiMislit but why do we devised it by 6.28?
@JmeWink
@JmeWink 5 лет назад
@@nevegriffin9188 Because the circumference of a circle = 2 * pi * radius. She knows the circumference of her waist is 30. Pi is 3.14. 2 times 3.14 = 6.28.

FOR ANYONE ELSE WHO IS BAD AT MATH AND FINDS 2:38 CONFUSING: instead of '30=2piR, 30=2x3.142, etc etc etc... Take your waist measurment. (A tape wrapped around your waist in a circle.) That's circumference. Divide that by 3.14.(That's 'pi'.) That gives *diameter*. 'Radius' is a fancy word for 'half of the diameter'. Diameter is if you drew a whole slash through a circle from top to bottom or side to side. Radius is if you drew a line perfectly from the center of a circle to the outside edge of the circle. You're welcome.
