Firstly, very nice song. I do like the song a lot, and not just cause I’m Australian. But I feel like it could of used more emotion. You made the song yours and it’s great, but it’s still missing the spark. And reading the comment from you about what the song is about, you are correct for the most part. But this song is also like an apology letter. He knows he disappointed his family and that Christmas won’t be the same without him, all because he made a silly decision and got jail time. So he is writing to them about how to make gravy, so that they can still ‘enjoy’ Christmas with him not there. That it will almost be the same. So overall the songs about remorse while remembering the good times from the past and how this year, that can’t happen. And I’m sure there’s more into it if you looked deeply into the lyrics but that’s the long and short of it. Ps. I know you probably heard Paul Kelly’s version of it but ty for saying Queensland right, so many people say it wrong lol.

Thanks! I tried to convey emotion through it, but listening to Paul Kelly singing it, I felt like I should not make it sound too sad. I wanted to make it sound a bit more "happy", to mean that even though he's not gonna be there this time, it's gonna be alright, you should still laugh and have a good time
I watched the hole clip.i believe you played it but had no understanding of the song and what it was actually About. Your talented but lack the feel the emotion and understanding of this song.

Isn't it about someone who's gonna miss Christmas because he'll be in jail? And imagining what will happen then according to what he remembers usually happens at that time but remembering kinda with joy cause good memories
