After using the bath salt, does it leave any residual coloring around the bathtub? Your products look absolutely fun and amazing.
@SheasBathLab
@SheasBathLab 2 года назад
So what made you change this recipe? This is different from your previous bath salts recipe which is how I still make them. I scent and add oil and poly 80 to the natrasorb until it is perfect and then add the salt and then I add color. I started using lakes and now I have lots of color powder so I use it with dyes in it. The water looks so cool with dyes.
@CreativeBathLab
@CreativeBathLab 2 года назад
Great point. I used poly20 this time bc it's thinner & easier to mix in. But either one is fine. Also, I am constantly evolving & learning different things... As I learn & evolve so do my recipes. My old recipes still work & are still relevant, but as I update recipes I give them to you guys. If you have an old recipe of mine that works for you- that's great. Stick with what works!

Dora, I’ve been making all kinds of small batches of different soaps and salts - but I was wondering, if I make a really large batch of bath salts without mica or coloring and seal it up, can I take portions of it out at different times to scent and color?? I feel like it shouldn’t hurt anything but I just wanted to make sure there isn’t a reason why people tend to color and scent right away.

Hey Dora, thanks for sharing, you have done so many great videos, always looking forward to seeing your new ideas, i want to make a bath bomb that dissolves real quickly, but produces as much foam and bubble as posssible and the foam and bubble lasts as long as possible, like 20 or 30 minutes? is that possible even to maintain the foam that long time?
@CreativeBathLab
@CreativeBathLab 2 года назад
Nope! The only bath bombs that I know of that I’ve ever made that last at the most 15 to 20 minutes are complete duds. they sit there and barely do anything as far as activity; they just slowly foam and let out of very thin wispy smoky like foam that dissolves right away

Omg I have another question for you! So I thought I went wrong with using mica because I needed to use a water soluble dye, but I DID use polysorbate 80 when I used the mica, it still stained my tub. Do you think I just didn’t use enough polysorbate? When in the process do you add in the polysorbate? Thanks so much for your videos!
@CreativeBathLab
@CreativeBathLab 2 года назад
The more mica you use, the more polysorbate 80 you need to add.... Then, if you're using a really dark mica, you may need even more. I had a horrible disaster with this so now I shy away from using super dark micas with bath salts.

@lturner3615
@lturner3615 2 года назад
Hi. So if you add the oils to the mica powder it will help retain the scent as stronger than if you were to place the oils directly into the salt mix, correct? The way I currently have been doing it is this: mixing my essential oils into a base of sweet almond oil, then mixing the mica powder into that base along with polysorbate 80? Then I put it into the salt/baking soda mix. If I want the scent to be stronger, should I replace the baking soda with tapioca flour or what do you recommend? Or do I just need to stop using Essential oils for the scent and find something stronger? Thanks for your feedback.

One question on your video , you say the salt can last up to a year but you use the whole bottle one day 🤔
@chelseaflowers4729

shelf life is one year. yeah, you can use it sparingly or just make a huge jar of it...but most ppl use a small jar in one use.

Maybe make a larger batch and this is just a sample to give people an idea 🤔 The salt itself in a small or big batch lasts about a year.

You normally use Polysorbate 80 as I do but why did you choose poly 20 for this project? Also wanted to share that I personally use Natrasorb for my salts and lakes or color powder with dyes to color. Natrasorb is awesome. You can add so much oil to it.
@CreativeBathLab
@CreativeBathLab 2 года назад
I wanted to demonstrate that you don't necessarily have to have natrasorb to make scented bath salt. This is why I used corn starch this time (people in some other countries don't have access to natrasorb). But as I stated in the video, natrasorb is STILL the best & it is still my choice base powder to use when scenting salts. Although it was surprising to me that it didn't hold THAT much more than corn starch. (natrasorb holds about .35 fragrance oil per tbsp of salt VS .25 ml of fragrance oil with corn starch). Natrasorb holds more, but I just assumed it'd be by a LOT more.
@SheasBathLab
@SheasBathLab 2 года назад
@@CreativeBathLab Interesting. Frankly you went so far as to do all the experimenting and figuring out exactly what it holds, but I am LAZY LOL. I just add oils till it feels right. Then if too much I add back a bit of natrasorb. Thank you for all you do and share with us!
