We are in our late sixties and early seventies. We have planted tens of thousands of various pines on our property. All and any cones open up. It just takes time. They have to open up for the seed to come out. It's simply God's ways for replenishing the forests.
Gave my married kids a firepit for Christmas and included a basket of these DIY fire starters. I enjoyed the project and they turned out great !!! Thank you for the video !!!
I have been using Pine Cones as weed suppressants in my between my Herbs and also. spray painted some of them silver to hang on an outside Christmas Tree. Now, I see another use. I'd use Jute String on mine though, it takes a light very nicely. Thank you for sharing,
Great idea using Jute instead of the regular string. When I tie on the decorative tags I use Jute for the rustic appearance, but I never considered how well it burned. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah my neighbor asked me to get some pine cones because my yard has a lot of pine cones and his guy thought I was raking them up to be nice and don't be waking that up without getting money from her but then she I thought it was for a crap for her grandkids and she said they were fire starters for the wood burner stuff hell I'm 40 years old and I just now found out
I've never noticed an odor when they burn. If anything I'd say it's similar to a candle. The paraffin wax is clean burning so I don't have any issues with a residue buildup. The residue they leave behind is a small puddle of wax on the bottom of your fireplace/wood stove as they burn but that goes away as they burn up.
It would depend on what type of wax you used. If you're using an old candle with added scents and coloring, I don't think I would cook over it. However, if you're using wax with no additives it would be fine.
So nice job. Are you just starting the channel and creating do it yourself stuff on video? Aren't you afraid you will not have enough things to talk about? It seems it would be a limited amount of information just in firewood. Great to have you here and showing us creative and inventive stuff on firewood. Oh I'm making the fire wood rack today. Got my materials. Left you a message about raising the rails off the ground...Let me know what you think.
