Hi Moses. If you don't mind could you please clarify for me the following? 1. After 2 days soaking, must all the seeds have radicals before placing them in the tray? 2. Don't you add nutrients solution to the water? 3. How do you remove all the husks and other bits before washing the seeds? What is the best way to do it? 4. After how many days will the fodder be ready? 5. Will hydroponics system work in hot region like Northern Kenya? I.e the hot sun killing off the fodder. Thanks
@Moses_Mash
@Moses_Mash 3 года назад
1.After 2 days almost all of the seeds have radicals, so you just pour on the tray. 2.Just water, don't add nutrients. 3.Just place the seeds in water, husks and 'bad' seeds will float. 4.Depends with your watering, temperature,but 7days Max. 5.Of course it will work there, $ also direct sunlight kills the fodder, just need an open shade to prevent it from direct sunlight but also allows enough light. Just try it out, you learn most things as you go.

My question is, is that all you feed your birds or you feed them with something else apart from the fodder?
@Moses_Mash
@Moses_Mash Год назад
There is need for supplementation with commercial feeds to cover other micronutrients lacking in the fodder

You didn’t mention about location to store the seeds. Either in sunlight or in dark or in room light. Where to put the growing seeds tray for better results? Kindly let us know

Hello bro, thanks for the information but I have a question, what if I use maize, do I follow the same instructions as barley or wheat and what would be the best time to harvest maize fodder for chicks and grown chickens. Hope you will help me with the information. Thanks
@Moses_Mash
@Moses_Mash 3 года назад
Harvesting time is the same, the only with maize is their crude protein is only 3%while barley has 23% and wheat has 21%,so with maize you've lower crude protein percentage,. Harvesting time for chicks below a month is around 3days(length around 1.5-2inches) $ for mature poultry you can harvest at 5-7days

Room temperature is OK, you can also achieve that by using polythene paper,to bring greenhouse effect.

Have never tried rice seeds and have never seen or heard rice being used, but I think considering it's protein content it won't work well

Thanks for the answer. I'm myself living in France but I have told about the technique to 2 people plus my nephew in my village of Bafoulabé in Mali. The 4 of us are now experimenting for 1 week now, trying to make tests with scorecards changing parameters like the duration of the soaking (see whether soaking only 6 hours instead of 12 makes the productivity decrease) or the time of germination (see whether putting the drained grains only 12 hours instead of 24 makes the productivity decrease). While producing for tests, we will make tests also on animals (we have 1 sheep and will buy a few chickens) trying to feed some only with hydroponic fodder and others the traditional way or with a mixed diet so that to understand if dry matter is really indispensable to their diet. From what I read or saw (on RU-vid), most of the people say you cannot feed your animals only with that but a few others pretend that you can with sheeps and chickens at least. It seems that you really can't feed cows exclusively with that. An American horse keeper claims that he is feeding horses exclusively with hydroponic for 7 years now and they are in better shape. An Indian specialist says you can feed sheeps "101% with it. To me, that is the big stake because after checking the economic relevancy of the technique (checking whether the economic cost is worth it), that would allow farmers to keep their cattles in parks permanently (at least for sheeps). Knowing all the conflicts caused every year in Africa because of wandering animals, that is again a good reason to promote it. Hope I was not too long. My excuse is I am very enthusiastic about all that.
