Thank you for the Mesa IR. Just tried it out on a chug type guitar riff during a chorus section and it is very smooth. I have all the tools needed to make my own IR's, just haven't dipped my toes in yet.

@@joeymusic you CAN'T capture the sound of the valve amplifier even if you wanted to because it's non-linear

You can also do this in Reaper with ReaVerb. I forgot the exact steps (I only did it once almost a decade ago) but it has a deconvolving feature.

Great video. Totally unrelated comment: Love to listen to these sine sweeps after I calibrated my listening position with Sonarworks/SoundID. Sounds totally flat compared to without. Awesome.

Very informative. I didn't know, it was that straight forward. I mean, taking a frequency sweep is a given, but I expected it to take a bit more processing. And that riff again... Great!

You forgot one step, which was to connect a microphone to audio interface input, and place the mic into the cab where it feels better ;)..... Actually even do several captures e.g. cone, off axis, etc etc ......Thanks for the video, was great....I ll try this one of these days...Cheers mate , great stuff ;)

That is the most underrated explanation for making IRs i ever stumbled about! But I am having an issue: As a poweramp, I tried a HiFi amp, a PA amp and the power section of my Ibanez Toneblaster15 solid state guitar amp (modified to work with external speakers). HiFi and PA amps sounded way too dark through the cabinet, while the solid state guitar amp 15W power section made the tone feel just authentic. Why do so many people promote PA amps for the job, what could I be doing wrong?

Any suggestions on a budget Class D power amp, say, one that might have additional uses around the house like powering a turntable/hi fi equipment or something like that ?

need some help on this one, so i sent the sweep to the combo and did it several times for different mic positions and exported every single one of them correctly. then imported them to the deconvolver and they ALL sound exactly the same, like I can't hear any difference from the IR created for the front speaker from the one captured behind the cab :/ can you help me?

I have a question. I have Fender Blues Jr. and that doesn't have an effects loop, it just has a direct in. So what do I do then? Also, how can I tell that I have properly capture an IR of my amp. I have been having trouble recording this and also making sure I have a good plugin that can read and understand that .wav IR. Advice?

Big dumb question here. You think this could work on humanizing midi guitars, and how night one go about that without a power amp (or any amp). Let’s say I have a midi tone I’m actually satisfied with but it doesn’t sound as good anywhere besides the room I mixed and eq’ed it. Would creating an impulse of that room help?

Do you need to run this out of your interface with a reamp box before the poweramp? Or just straight from the interface to power amp?

The output of your interface is at line level, so straight from it. The purpose of reamp box is to match instrument level signal for input in an actual pre amplifier/pedals

Grab basically anything with proper wattage for your cab that is class d! The crown ones are dope but try a couple out and see what you fall in love with -Miami

I don’t know why, but the whole “it doesn’t move air in the room” argument annoys me. One of these days I’ll blend in the sound of a fan pointed at a mic so I can say “here’s the sound of air being moved in the room” 🤪🤪
