G'day and I hear Ya, Since I can't be a stonemason anymore, because it did my back in I have been vegetating in front of my computer. So I am getting back into making things and trying to make a light weight camping pack set up. hand tools and woodworking. I used to carve stone because I liked it more than wood, even rode up the mountain each weekend on my pushbike with a backpack full of stone carvings to sell to tourists when i was young and fit. So now I can at least go camping and carve a stick. Wood is a pain but it will give me something to learn more about and get good at.
Being a novice and having watched soooo many videos now, I have to commend you and the Slingshotsniper for sorting me out. Top draw stuff John, your a legend mate.👍
I very much appreciate the detail you went into here John. While I have gone over it numerous times I gnored the point of attaching the the OTT band to the pouch as you describe. I picked up a TitanHunter M95 TTF recently from Chris and have been doing alot of practce learning how to shoot TTF. I put a TTF band set on my OTT EVO V1 and you'd of thought I just started in this sport. Could not group consistently to save my life. Of course, I'm thinking how could it make that big of a difference. So long story short, tied an OTT bandset up and installed it. WTF Total suprise. Consistant groups at 3 centimeters no problem. Thanks again for your timely instruction.
Your video was clearly presented & instructive! I am now confident enough to start tying my own bands & appreciate very much The time & information you provided. Keep up the good work!
That's the best instructive slingshot vid I've ever seen. Thank you sir 👍 I may keep buying my bands made up, must try yours too on my wasp OTT Venator. I will remove and put my bands back on using your measurement and techniques demonstrated. And this time the right way up ! Which may explain why my ammo goes to the right all the time lol.
Great explanation. Realised I've been using a TTF bandset for an OTT catapult. Not sure how much of a difference that makes but I'm happy to blame any dodgy shots on it 😂
In all honesty if the anchor and references are the same the band will shoot the same every time…. If your are putting a OTT elastic on a TTF frame or vice versa the band will have a twist in it…. As with everything in Slingshots it’s down to preference but why have a twist in the band if u don’t have to hahah…. Happy shooting 🎯💯👻
Great video John and your the 1st I've seen doing the TTF bandset with the simple fold back as I do , I've been doing this for about a year now and I find it's the easiest way, quick and they last as long as the tri fold if not longer 👍
I bought some green elastic off your website. cant believe how long it lasts, been months without any signs of damage to bands or loss of power. The pouch is on its 6th set of bands and still great.
Thank you so much for the videos, I have learned so much from your knowledge and demonstration, but I still can't figure out how you know about my uncle Bob, but oh well...
Iv started out with the green bands getting the hand of the shot placement with some decent shots the band broke fairly quick and ordered some fleshey coloured ones installed on my ttf and the shots are all over the show. Thinking of taking the bands back off and installing the green bands again
Nice video John, those bands you just made are the tidiest I’ve ever seen. I remember years ago when me and me family first started getting into the sport, we’d help each other out make bands, this is in the good ole days when weird Joerg sprave first started knocking abaowt mind. Anyways when we used to make them we’d have like four of us making one band everyone holding a different piece of the band set. Two of us nipping and stretching like a mil of rubber going blue in the face and another two wrapping and tucking with bout 40 turns and fkn ell to see you do it yourself make it look a piss a piss made me laugh. Hey when you going to make another sea fishing video. Let us see you catch a whopper flounder, I’ve heard some of the estuarys down southwest are unreal. Keep up the good work mate
Haha I’ve been there buddy! Use to get the missis to hold the bands out while I did the wrap and tuck….. bloody nightmare and caused a few arguments hahaha…… Cheers for the comment ❤️🎯
Hello, i am from Senegal in Africa. I learn a from this video. Am very interested in making and using slingshot. My only problem is how to get the material. Please help
Another great video with loads of info as usual. But after watching loads of different content I am now reaching info overload. After 45years of air rifle shooting and hunting I fancied trying a slingshot but what I thought was a simple start up isn't. For a total beginner where do I start...OTT or TTF. Then it's what bands and finally ammo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😀
Start cheap with light bands is all I can recommend buddy…. Maybe a frame that shoots both OTT & TTF (universal tips) so u can try both styles…. Unfortunately as a complete starter it is really a bit of trial and error till you find what suits you best….. cheers
G'day, I am Old so I know how to make slingshots but its now illegal to own them in my state. Go figure hey. Anyways, I do still like to know how to do things properly and easily, so thanks for the video. One other thing i like to know is ways to get things without maybe needing to pay much if anything for materials. With that I had a blood test the other month and the women used a rubber tourniquet. At the end she was just going to throw it away, so I asked for it. It is about 2 foot long. Thats a slingshots worth! So next time I go to the doc, I might have to pop into the blood testing area and ask if they have any they don't need.
@@granger9967 My states laws make slingshots illegal, and like I said why pay when I could even make my own metal one out of old drink cans. I get your point though, I just like making shit. Also I don't really buy off the net and have no idea if packages are marked a certain way or how much they check them and I really don't want to risk having to talk to police, over a 10 buck slingshot. Anyways have a good one
Great video thank you! Just a question on the pouches, how thick and what type of leather do you use? Iots of leathers around here (south africa), quite expensive though, so i wouldn't want to order something, then its to thick or too hard.. Would appreciate your advice!
Hi John, I want to start making my own pouches, thing is I'm scratching my head over which size. Currently I've been using a Chinese cut 50*12*8 which feels a bit small. So what size do you think I should try for 9.5mm ammo? No pressure mate, just your opinion. Regards Dave.
I've just gotten into this as an old codger, with a Fowler's Sparrow. I haven't attached the bands yet, so finding this is great. The last time I used a catty was probably 50 years ago. A small plastic catty with grey SQUARE tubing! They lasted about three days and were utter rubbish. What a great tutorial. Thank you so much. It's much appreciated.
Alright Jon brill vid as Always ! With that vid under my belt ha lol I was wondering if U wouldn't mind doing a how-to vid on making pouch plz 😅 🙏🤠👏👏🤪 I no have a stamp cutter fingy, and just wondering if thers an simple way of achieving this .. Peace out buddy & many many thx for ur simplistik n practical approach 👍
Awesome close up tutorial John! I'm a new shooter with OTT(brace grip) 0.8mm 20/25 band and 10mm ammo. I experience bad middle finger slaps after the ball leaves the pouch and was wondering if you can give a tip what's going wrong. Maybe my ammo is too light ? Draw length is 74cm. Any other comments are appreciated as well.
Hy I search for the first Slingshoovid i ever saw to share it with a friend It was the one with the Bad Boy's soundtrack Please can you point me in the right direction to find it? Keep up the good work Stay save!
Why has your band length changed since your draw/band length video. I'm learning how all this works but these 2 video state different band lengths. Your at 17 here but using your divide by 5.5 these bands are too long for you. Is this different because using different bands perhaps? Thanks.
Catty shack has a similar video where he uses that crystal ribbon stuff. Can’t remember exactly but I’d imagine a lot more than the rubber wrap n tuck cause it’s thinner. I’d go with 10-15 wraps
Man, you need to make up your mind ! 1 - Few years ago, on the ttf bands you were doing things totally different, when tying the bands on the pouch. I was wondering why you were doing it like that, when it was much more simple and efficient like you are doing it now ( I do it the same since 7 year old ). 2 - You said few years ago that your active length is "Exactly 14,5 at all your sling shots (80cm : 5,5cm = 14,5 cm ). Now you're saying that your active length is 17 cm ( 17 cm × 5,5 cm = 93,5 cm ). Did you change your active length ??! It means you don't pull back to the corner of your mouth anymore, and you are pulling back a lot more if you are using 17 cm active length. Am I right ? Don't get me wrong man, I appreciate what you are doing, and your advices are great, but need to be more careful man. Some people might get confused. Jesus man, make up your mind !

Hi John , great vid as always, iv never seen that method for TTF pouch attachment iv always used the fold both sides of the band in which is a major ball ache using 23/12 taper so your way looks alot easier . Thanks mate
