If you did the "Skirt" before doing the bias binding on the neck you could do it while the top is inside out and then "turn" it through the neck-hole, iron it down nicely then do the neckline. That way you can sew the skirt on with the raw edges all lined up and one straight stitch catches all three layers.
After viewing several tea towel tutorials, I have to say that yours is the absolute best. And the ironing of the bias was simply genius. I’ll be making these for Valentine and Mothers Day gifts. Many thanks.
This dress is CUTE! I watched the whole thing thinking "I can't wait to make this for my granddaughter!" Ha, I didn't even realize these were for the KITCHEN!
I have been a Homemaker’s for 46 years. We have 2 grown children with 4 granddaughters and another on the way! Surprise for us but not for our son and DIL. I love everything Homemaking! Thank you for all that you do. God bless you and your family.
You could also make an an apron to match, of course a lot larger. Thank you for your sweet spirit, it made learning a whole lot easier. You're a great teacher. New to your channel. Can't wait to see what you make next.
I'm not sure how much the clear template sheet cost, but I use the clear cutting mats located in the kitchen section at dollar tree. They work wonderfully!😉
Thank you for your kind words! We are so happy you enjoyed the video. The great thing is that they are so easy to make you can easily switch them up based on the seasons, holidays etc. 😊
Omygoodness. I thought these were for a girl vs the kitchen. I was saying to myself "you can't leave the sides open...everyone will see her altogether!" HAHAHAHA
This was the first time that I Ever saw one of Your videos. I did like and Subscribed to Your channel. Thank You for sharing Your talents with Us. These are sooooo adorable. I am always looking for things for gifts for the ladies in Our Family. These are Awesome. I look forward to seeing more of Your videos. 😊👍🏼👋🏼
What a delightful idea. I can't wait to make some for my daughters and daughter in law. The ideas with the bias tape are wonderful. Thank you for the inspiration 🙏 🇦🇺
Also, at the dollar store there are sets of 2 - clear (almost clear) plastic cutting mats that are useful for making templates. The template plastic gets expensive. Thank you for the pattern!
I'm buying several more of those what the dollar tree calls cutting mats, lol, . I have two now but these are very valuable pieces of plastic....but trying to find them in stocks is another thing altogether. Ha
@@marlenejones6266 I saw your video 2 years ago and never made a little dress. I loved the bias tape tutorial and I've sewn for 50 years. Watched the whole video again!
I always stayed away from bias tape because I could never get it on right. I was always missing part of the tape when sewing necklines & armholes, especially on short sets & infant outfits. TY so much for sharing.
I bought mine at a craft fair here in Quartzsite Arizona. It has cats in the top fabric and a velour towel on the bottom. I think I will make more, as they really are cute!!
I make these a lot, but mine are a little different from yours. I actually sew the neck hole first, then turn to the right side and roll one side up so I can put right sides together on the other side and do the side seams, one at a time (kinda hard to explain, but it works!). Nice to see a different way to make them.
Your instructions are fantastic. I made one of these a couple of years ago and the instructions were horrible. You've made it so simple and extremely easy. The bias tape around the neck is genius. I guess I will sew another one or more. Thank you so very much!
My great grandmother had one of these, just one I remember, but the top of the dress was crocheted..I always remembered loving it..but this would be easier
After watching your video, I made one of these adorable hanging towels. It turned out beautiful. Thank you. I have watched several videos on this project and yours is by far the easiest to follow. 😉
I inherited two tea towel 'dresses' similar but different, they are sleeveless, and they are smaller, with lace around the neckline, not sure how they did that with a circle cutout, but at least now I know the mechanics of it all. Thank you! Now to find something that will work for guys...and yes, a far cry from the crocheted tops on terry kitchen towels I did 40 years ago. :) Blessings!
I found this so enjoyable to watch. I learnt so many tips to help in my projects. I love the presentation - just so lovely and natural like I'm having a personal expert tutorial - the quality you would expect at uni. Thank you so much 💓
Hello, I stumbled onto yr page & liked this idea for gift givin! 😀👍 I noticed you grabbed a pair of tweezers to punch out the corners of your fabric. As a great tool that I've found in my years of sewin, I bought ivory chopsticks. Yes, you can buy plastic ones, or wooden ones, however I hv found that the ivory are very delicate to ANY fabric... yess, so iis plastic. Just be sure the plastic chopsticks don't have a raised seam that will pull on delicate fabrics... I have filed it down very carefully in my past before buying the ivory. 🙂👋 THANKS sewing friend! From one idea to another! I enjoyed watching!!
I live these little dresses! Thank you for including a template! That was the only reason I haven't made one. Now I want to make some for Xmas presents for my family! Thank you for the tutorial!
Just watched another quilter and she used elmer glue with fine tip that would be good on binding. I’m in uk and love this pattern thank you and Merry Christmas
This is so cute. Looking at it I am saying to myself ..... this would make a great and comfortable apron. I am going to try to adapt this to my size ..... having the neck hole big enough to slip over my head.
TY! so much for the pattern and tutorial. I am going to subscribe as a TY (really bc I liked the video lol) and probably binge watch your channel in the next few days hahaha
