Kawakawa is a traditional medicinal plant of the Māori. An infusion is made from the leaves or roots, and used for bladder problems, boils, bruises, to relieve pain or toothache, or as a general tonic. In New Zealand, this is popular herb used for treating skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis or any other skin irritations. My newborn benefits from my homemade kawakawa balm to sooth his nappy rash. And I use this to treat my daughter's eczema.
