This is a really great tutorial! And the finished beat sounds great. Something that I enjoy doing for lofi is using an LFO or random source to slightly modulate pitch, to kinda emulate an old cassette tape.
@Snake Plissken bad factory patches are an issue with most synths to be honest. When I first got my Peak I was a bit underwhelmed going through the patches.
@Snake Plissken the Peak is my favourite synth. Absolutely love it, the FX are amazing on it. I posted a video on my channel yesterday, showcasing ambient pads on it. That is a big jump on price!
Getting chilly over there too eh? Here in Atlantic Canada its a nice cool rainy day but I'll take it over humid hot days any day! Enjoy your vacation!!
Thanks for the video. I'm only beginning my journey with producing Lofi Beats and my first track is mostly guitar and piano based, but I do plan to use more synths in my future productions. I do worry a bit that I will find it hard to retain the organic feel of the typical lofi beats when I start adding synthetic parts, but this video showed me that I'm clearly worrying too much. :) I did use one synth part on my track and I do think I've created a quite a nice sound - I have played chords on a string machine and pushed them 100% wet through a tape echo emulator, automating the intensity parameter so that with each new chord the echoes first swell into self oscillation and saturate the tape and then fade out.
More Blade Runer type future lofi is quite amazing, people focus more on the piano and guitar stuff with to much vibrato on it. This would sound SO GOOD with the Blade Runner inspired reverb the Meris Mercury7.
I'm into lofi audio and beats. I think to really be lofi, you have to record audio through your computer's built in audio. Mac already has good audio drivers and PC has Asioforall driver. So no audio interface. Also a Korg Monotron Delay is awesome for extra lo-fi-ness. Enjoyed the video.
Would have loved to hear the final beat. Video felt hurried. Would have liked to hear more of the finished parts. Only 10 mins? Could have (should have?) been longer and more in depth. I’d certainly have watched more.
Call me a woke virtue-signaller if you must, but it's great to see more women increasing their profile in the synth scene. This lady is a great instructor.
Video is not bad, i love jazzy music but i hate lofi trend who remember me my young age in 70th . At this time worst of lofi was 78 RPM vintage records. Everybody wanted Hifi at these days with best quality but not the holly crapp sound Melody were good at this time and before , but lofi on radio and cracks on vinyl was just pain for our ears. What should be good in vintage ? Vintage is only low quality because we couldn't do better records. My ears are vintage now, and its no really fun.
