Thank you so much for this recipe! My children became legal adults (where did the time go??), so I wanted to give them a proper food gift. I’m not artistic at all and don’t usually decorate my baked goods beyond the basics, so I was a little intimidated here. But your explanations in both written and visual form are so detailed that even I was able to make these lovely peach buns filled with delicious homemade bean paste. They were a hit for sure.

I just tried to add the pink color with a tea stainer with a toothbrush just like what you did. However, the colour did not fall on the bun surface, only around the paper underneath.😢 Is there any reason? Thanks.
Hi, May I know what "type" of food colouring that you use? I used "gel food colouring" in the video, the colour concentrate thick enough to brush through a strainer (even it has been diluted with water). If you use water-based food colouring (usually the consistency is more liquid), you may not need to add much water to it. If you add too much water, the consistency will be too thin and the colour you apply through the strainer will not be visible and will not stick to the buns. Another tip, make sure you hold the strainer upside down "2 cm" above the bun (not too far) and gently brush the toothbrush on the back of the strainer with a "circular motion"; brush in the middle of the strainer and not around the edge of the strainer (Kindly watch the video for the details). Thanks for your quick response. 🙏 I used the same food colouring types as yours. I will try to do it again with your recommended angles and may repeat few more times to let the color accumulate. If I succeed, the peach buns will be the birthday gift for my Dad.😊

My pleasure. After dip toothbrush to the colour mixture, make sure that you tap the brush on kitchen towel a few times to remove excess liquid so no water drips through the strainer; And remember when you brush it over the back of the strainer, do it gently in a circular motion. Hope this helps.
I don’t recommend to use cold water because the chilled milk contributes to a tender texture, while the addition of yeast enables the dough to rise and become fluffy. Hope this helps.
