if you can't find an instrument just use fl keys and put it on gross beat then half time it ,,, it will sound 🔥 then eq to remove low frequencies and make counter melody with flute from sytrus
I feel you...but what I do is make beats that use normal instruments instead of synths...they are abit easier to use but the tip I can give you is have one vyb for the track...if you add a sound and it changes the sound direction take it out.

ian jackson That would be correct for every instrument that you have in that particular beat. The first note you play will be your root note (the key of your beat)

Maybe a weird suggestion, how to find the right 808? Once I've found a sample that fits it's BBQ chicken but man it takes me a long as time actually finding a good 808
