Happy New Year! To start the new year off right, I’ve FINALLY gotten the Agate video re-recorded. I hope you all find this informative. Find creative ways to add this easy technique to embellish your soaps or possibly sell them as is. I truly enjoy seeing how others interpret my videos and hope that you just pay it forward. Beautiful blessings come to those that help others who were once ourselves. Sharing doesn’t mean giving away all of your secrets, but it is about giving others a means and way to learn as well. I thank you all for a wonderful 2017 and Wish the very best for you all in 2018! Lets do it!!!

I did this style a few years ago with candle wax to make as embeds in my candles around the outside (inside) of the jar. Looked super pretty. Just goes to show different creators can use this technique. You go girl. They look great!

Wow! Gorgeous. I love anything crystals. Great work. I’m a novice cake baker ( just starting my M & P soaping journey). I actually recently made edible versions of these agate slices for a crystal geode cake. It uses the same technique, only I obviously used food safe products. I used edible icing sheets and I have plenty of off cuts so I’m eager to see if they are a suitable product. Hopefully the mica won’t seep into the icing. Hmmmm 🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻

Dr. W. Octavia MalVeaux Dent oh thank you so kindly. I can’t take all the credit for this great technique. I acquired the basic idea from an RU-vid episode of Man about Cake. They used wafer paper. I just experimented with items I had that would translate in my soaps. Thank you for watching. So glad you found it helpful. Happy New Year to you. 💖

SNOBLOVE Beauty Will any of the solvable paper remain on the agate pieces? It does not appear so. That being said, could I use a paper that I have on hand; like wax or parchment?

Dr. W. Octavia MalVeaux Dent it does not remain on the Agate. The issue with the use of things like parchment and freezer papers is the waxed layer. Dissolveable paper has a softness to it that makes it easy to peel away if needed but still has the texture of paper so it can hold onto the mica keeping it in place. The wax film of the parchment causes the mica to kind of float on top. It has no tooth. I have not found any other products that act as embed(dissolvable) paper does. Regular paper would stick to the back and be difficult to remove.

Is there any other paper that could be used? What about plastic wrap?

Allison Fields plastic wrap might be challenging because it is slick. No tooth to hold your mica in place. Test out some options around your home. You might find something that could be a good alternative. I’ve not had much success with other options.
