Nice idea, but why cardboard though? I might make this, but modifying the design: 1. Add a fan so that it circulates the air inside better 2. Use wood instead of cardboard 3. Add a switch so that the light only turns on when the door is open

@atom starfire productions, thermocol and heat sink are enough for passing out the heat. And the peltier module is for cooling the system. Why cut the wood, then?

Huhuhu.Electrical Engineering seems very convenient. Edit: OMG watching your vid taught me things other tutorial didn't. For example what side the DC fan should be attached on and what side should the heatsink be attached on. This is really a great layman's tutorial for making homemade fridge. I also like the design. Pretty Aesthetic.

Yes, but running Peltiers at 12v is not good idea. Running them at 3-9volts is much more better for cooling and also they use much less watts. I am running 3x12706 stacked, 2xruns with 5volt and 1x on top of them with 3v. I can reach steady -28celcius, measured from peltier surface, using only 30wats, Ambient temp 20celcius. And to compare, 2xwith 5volts stacked reaches steady -22celcius using only 20watts. If you run them at 12volts, they generate a lot more heat... Edit: And also running them at 5volts generate much more uses for them, like powering your fridge from USB, Phone chargers or Power banks (1.2A connections works too, but not so good). Great way to take that fridge into beach.... I am using 3xUSB 5v 2.4A max 8A phone charger to power my Peltiers.
