I love how in-depth this is. As someone who is familiar with Final Cut but definitely not a pro, seeing you break down your process makes me want to give your techniques a try
Great video! Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I’m a filmmaker but became physically disabled due to a chronic illness and production is no longer for me. However, I see mixed media and animation as a way to continue to work with visual storytelling from the comfort of my home and on my own time and terms. I’m glad I found your insta account and that you’re making these videos. I really enjoy them and they give me a bit of hope. :)
i remember first seeing your videos and having my brain explode trying to figure out the magic. thank you for putting my creative brain at ease. beautiful work!!
This is like the "how to draw" a thing and is like "well you draw a circle and add details, here you have a horse" 😂 This happens to me too every time I need to explain something about my illustration process hahah
Kyle I've loved your short films for a fair bit now, especially on Instagram and have wondered and wished to see what goes on in your mind when you create your art. This is absolutely inspiring, thank you for sharing a snapshot of your process with us!!
This is so awesome!! It really helped to see how you work and think…it was brilliant and it gave me more inspiration and ideas to create different and new things 😀 Wow THANK YOU! Please do more videos like this because even though it’s your creative process, this whole video was food for thoughts! Much love from Italy 😄 I’m a new subscriber!
Great tutorial Kyle! Very cool getting a look into the secret sauce behind your animation style. I haven’t used Final Cut Pro in a while ever since I started getting more into music production (i used to have it back when I took a few video production classes in high school & college), but I think you explain your creative process very well and make things understandable enough to where anyone can follow along without getting too lost in the technical stuff. Definitely saving this video and coming back to it for future reference!
Thank you Kyle! I love your work :) I have been thinking to try to make mixed media animation. I will have to look up some of the technical stuff. Also I think I will be working in an other software, but this was very helpful. I have been waiting for it ever since you announced that you are making it :)
Glad you dig it! Yeah the ideas in this video should hopefully translate to other video softwares since keyframes and mask tools are pretty universal in any video editing software.
Great stuff! I sometimes struggle at mentally tracking the different layers that I’m working with and what they all do. Compound clips are a lifesaver!
What is your balance between: 1. Having a vision of the final piece and going through step-by-step to achieve it 2. Focusing on the next step and only having a vague idea of where it will end up, but trusting the process that it will be a good place
Great questions! A lot of times with my mixed media work I try to go into with little to no vision of what the final piece will look like. This way it's way more exciting in the end if it comes out cool! Sometimes I definitely miss, but when it comes out cool its super worth it.
Brilliant work. Thank you 🙏🏻 How did you achieve the ghosting type effect on her face, is it just multiple layer and key frame, think I missed something 😅 👏🏻
