Bro i randomly found this guide and it actually made me love this game even more. I realized oh "each warlord has a different set of buildings based on the commanderie and my entire build is based off that and i can actually wage wars based off resources and make plans based off them" it spiced up the game for me. thx bro

This was a really well made video. I have been trying to find a decent guide to Three Kingdoms since I started playing. This is pretty good and not drawn out, either.

Great video man I’m a huge fan of the total war series I been playing since ROTK on PlayStation and just got into total war on p.c i have a lot of the expansions for this series and I just started today with Cao Cao and find myself getting frustrated early early on because of running low on money I love how you broke down some really really important things, and that being money is one of them and how you earn your income, and how each faction and each commandery specializes in certain things I already knew with playing Cao Cao that the area he starts off in the provinces that are around the surrounding areas are mostly farmland and grain fields, instead of focusing on that and working my economy off of that and building buildings specifically dedicated towards farmland, cattle and grain fields I was busy building buildings that had nothing to do with what my economy is based off of so thank you for breaking this all down I’m sure it will help with my frustration a lot 😂😂

This guide is incredible - for a beginner like me! Deserves more watches! Any thoughts on building big cities? I realise that Above Tier 5 the cities get out of control with the public order... and then you need to build buildings to counter that. how do you manage to have maxed out public orders?
@nanonarse8515
@nanonarse8515 Год назад
Thanks! The best advice is there's no need to go above a level 8 Regional City, which will keep your population capped at 3M rather than 7.5M for the Imperial City. Much easier to manage that way. Not every city needs to be that high, either. Some are only worth getting to level 5 or 7, depending on their output. You only need to upgrade the ones that are worth the trouble. So long as you keep those cities fed with a surplus food of +10 or so, public order should be fairly easy to control. I'll usually dedicate one slot to a shrine or military infrastructure (grain storage works too, but gives you less), and put an administrator with a public order boost in the more troublesome cities. That should sort you out. That way, even the cities that trend down should only do so at a trickle. It'll take years to descend into the negatives, and you can easily offset it with a few turns of tax exemption to max them back out. At that point, you should be more than big enough for your economy to handle it.

lol, I am generating over 500k of income just by vassalising 80% of the fraction on the map. My bank was like tens of millions and every faction was insignificant to me. This system is just ridiculous. This is a really awesome video. However, there is only one thing that I believe is not entirely correct. When you are hoarding your bank with an insane amount of money, no one would even dare to mess with you. You can buy peace and everything, literally just buy out(Vasalise) an entire fraction just like that. Of course, it's impossible or ideal in the early game or when you haven't even reached the required rank.

how do you do that ? how do you balance army spending in early game ?
@jamesschaller753

I don’t understand how? The entire Han empire is my vassal and i barely make a grand a turn 😂 they dont do shit! And if i annex them i make even less 😅
@bsiah9073
@bsiah9073 Месяц назад
@@jamesschaller753 LOL, I am talking about late game of course. It depends on the city or settlement/commandary they are holding and the level of the city/buildings etc. A fully max level city and buildings make around 5k or higher per turn. Just like the video has explained, what and which commandary do. What you build dictates your income. Some fraction/warlords has particular buildings and traits that increase tax income without suffering corruption etc. Both you and the vassals heir, master, generals who is overseeing the city, would have big impact on the income and production etc too. Some characters gives you extra 25% income from vassals, commandary etc. Generally, The most important or number 1 factor that makes a difference in the game is the character traits and stats. How you maximise their traits to benefit yourself the most, IE battle, loyalty, income etc. Next is how well you manage your relationship with other fractions, get the most benefits to yourself and avoid getting killed. I would say the least you should worry about was combat. Even if you start off with a really bad and terrible trait characters, with the right political manuvers and surviving the battlefield. Eventually you can grow and obtain better characters. It does not matter if you only can play well in the battles, 3 generals and only a handful and beating an entire army that is much bigger than you with the ratio of 1 to 10 or even more sounds awesome. I tired that LOL, in romance mode of course. You can do this all the way from early to mid game. but late-mid game to late game when you are facing a higher tier units like imperial armys, protector of heaven, elephants etc make it hard and rough to do it. There are not many character in the game can pull this off despite the gears and weapons you got. With the right generals, positioning and type of army you can always fight off a battle and win against the odds. The best game that i have achieve was 3 generals with 65 units vs over 3815 and 2 generals + 1 captain at Ruyang, i was on the attackin side LOL. A bigger scale one was 6 generals with 2227 including a captain units vs 11,719 units with 12 generals at Anning as a defender. they came in 2 waves. from 2 sides.It feels really good when you pull it off even though the PC thought you would suffer a complete defeat. However, if you can't manage your politics properly, you just get constant attack and swarm by neighbouring fractions. Eventually you fall behind in those who are more powerful/ IE richer than you hence more vassals and army to attack you. at the end you will just end up being stuck in a loop trying to defend or expand just to a few settlements lol.
@bsiah9073

@@DasboardTVDE in early game is very rough, it really depends on your starting location, the warlords you choose and the characters available to you at the time. Most of the time i work out which neighouring faction can give me good deals like giving them food in and trade them for income, sacking generals gives you income depending on their level, but the rest of your generals loyalty will fall the more do you it, so do it adequately. Sometimes i recruit those with good gears and then sack them later on and trade those gears for income LOL. You have to make sure to make good relationship with your neighbours or a powerful fraction, be their vassal so you wont get attacked and finished off by someone who was more powerful than you. In that way you don't need a large army sitting around and consuming your food and income. Its easier in romance mode because you can use generals only to hold on an entire army of 3. Only if you are legendary general like Liu bu, Zhang fei, Ma chao etc of course. It gets easier the further down when your relationships/politics gets better with more faction. Better political relationship, better trade offers. Especially the powerful ones. You get the hang of it the more you play and familiarise the game mechanis. There are a lot of tricks here and there which you can find on youtubes, this one in particular of course with the income and what to build. That was how i learn my way lol. My first 3 tries all ended up got defeated in less than 30 rounds and eventually stuck in a loop where i could not grow any further and getting constant attacks as i neglect the political side of things. Have to quit and restart the game LOL as i was too messy and too far off to ever catch up with the warlords like caocao and liu bei. They were already almsot half way through the emperor and i was still on the first rank. Once you done that you slowly know what commandary to build first, what settlement benefits you, who to recruit, balancing your units, income, loyalty, commandaries, public order etc. battle is also one of the things to get around to like the positioning and type of units compositions.

When this video was made, all of this was good advice. As of today, much of it doesn't apply. Food trade, for one (Diplomacy income) has been nerfed in a major way. Still a useful video, though. In my experience, it's essential to minimize army size in the early game to get your economy rocking and rolling. In Romance mode that's easy to do since heroes are so OP - you don't actually need big armies.
@nanonarse8515
@nanonarse8515 9 месяцев назад
Food trade was nerfed since the game's release, but is unaffected since the video was made. It's still a solid situational early game income. You just can't conquer China with rice alone like you could in 2019. The biggest changes since this video's release is the nerf to ancillary hoarding and the faction council economy buffs making industry far more powerful than commerce and peasantry. I considered putting out a revised video when CA dropped support for 3K, but ultimately didn't feel the changes to be too significant. I still stand by this video with a few small caveats.

Can you really get to millions with no exploits? I’ve been playing for like 10 hours and the hugest I’ve ever seen my cash was 50k. And all the camanderies are doing ok. Lots of food, public order etc. Three well balanced armies. When I saw you had 2.1M, omg I give up.

How is the composition between you go to war and growing your economic? If you don't conquer other factions, they would do right?
@nanonarse8515
@nanonarse8515 3 года назад
Sorry for the late reply! 3K is a game where you can build tall and have a very strong economy with a small territory if you play right. So expansion isn't as important as other Total Wars. The important thing is to have the income to support your war and develop the land you own. If that's covered, expand away. Know your limits, though. It's easy enough to gobble up the little factions, but try not to get embroiled in war with too many big boys at once.

My last game has 600k coins and 1000 food. I think I just want to keep my population happy with everything at 100 happiness by downgrading the city to no negative food. That's equivalent to moving a lot of people out 😅 The game got pretty boring after that once I know how the game work. It was my first playthrough too. I conquered 70% of the land and most of my enemies are my vassals.

4:11 AM 11/25/2022 People still play this wtf? Late game you dont want to rely on other factions for money (trade and vassals or exchange in deals) you want to be able to carry yourself up hill through economy while being able to throw out huge armies at once. Im waiting for the next TW game not warhammer or fantasy to see the new economy features and online gameplay like coop campaign. A world market that goes off the TW community with economy would be cool for singleplayer campaign that can be switched over to online coop campaign anytime you want against different people in their campaign.

Just lost with Sun Jian or what is the name on easy difficulty... Never had problems with Rome 1 and Medieval 2. Was doing fine until they turned against me... Never had more than 2k gold per turn... Public order was also a problem... Lot of new mechanics here that I do not understand...
